President Obama attended an Easter service with his family today at St. John's Episcopal Church near the White House, and the Pastor delivering the sermon at the service veered into political territory when he slammed the religious right for living in the past and lionizing "the good old days."
The sermon at the service, delivered by Dr. Luis Leon, an Episcopal pastor who delivered the benediction at Mr. Obama's second inauguration, took a turn for the political when the pastor decried those who wax nostalgic about the way things once were.
"I hear all the time the expression 'the good old days'," Leon said. "Well, the good old days, we forget they have been good for some, but they weren't good for everybody.
"You can't go back, you can't live in the past," he added. "It drives me crazy when the captains of the religious right are always calling people back...for Blacks to be back in the back of the bus, for women to be back in the kitchen, for gays to be in the closet and for immigrants to be on their side of the border."
"What you and I understand," Leon said, "is that when Jesus says, 'You can't hang onto me,' he says, 'You know it's not about the past, it's not about the before, it's not about the way things were, but about the way things can be in the now.'"
Luis asked his audience, "Will you accept the invitation from our Gospel today to see things with Easter vision, recognizing reality in a different and new and wonderful way?"
"Today the choice is yours," he said. "Jesus Christ is risen today - that's the proclamation. May God bless you with Easter vision now and forever. Amen."
Black churches are beyond repair. They are staffed by self-appointed reverends no different than the Rev. Wrights, Jesse Jacksons and Al Sharptons and are nothing more than non-profit subsidiaries of the DNC and the Obama machine. In the IQ spectrum the congregants are a little lower than what you would get watching a Benny Hinn, or Joel Osteen gathering.
Luis, you ignorant slut.
Too bad those atheist leftists Slick Willie, Janet Reno and Eric Holder weren't in charge back in 1961. You never would have escaped Cuba on a Peter Pan flight if they had been, Luis: 202-347-8766 x302
7The very fact that you have lawsuits among you means you have been completely defeated already. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be cheated?
8Instead, you yourselves cheat and do wrong, and you do this to your brothers and sisters.
9Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men
10nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
11And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
It’s always awkward hearing of an obsequious minister rendering up to Caesar, especially on a day like today.
But his peroration did remind ‘Caesar’ of something: “I need to remind Bigfoot to reserve my own funeral vault, for when I pass on in 30 or so years and can no longer rule Amerika.
“Three days should be about all the time I’ll need too ...” thought the Democrat’s little tin god as he sat there thinking of his short game.
This Pastor is a retrobate and is teching against what Christ taught.
Christ is the Truth, and the Light, and the Way to the Father. There is no "new and wonderful way."
Sin is sin, whether it be sodomay, robbery, murder, lieing, cheating, or deceiving.
No "new and wonderful way," will change those facts and the need for any people committing sin to repent of them and turn to Christ for redemption...not be told they are not sinning and they have nothing to repent of.
Seems to me, this preacher's church and his tax exempt status should come into question...a practixe I do not agree with...which is a practise of their own creation and that they surely seek to use against any would preach against such things from the puplit.
Nutcase.
That isn’t the context or meaning of that verse.
“You can’t hold onto me until I have ascended to the Father.” alludes to the completion of the prophecy.
How about a 50% divorce rate, Pastor? 50% illegitimacy rate? A million+ “legal” abortions a year? Ever heard of AIDS? Drugs, crack, heroin? 12-30 million illegal aliens and politicians who won’t enforce the law?
Maybe they should stop enforcing the so called “civil rights laws” then? What would you think about that, Pastor?
“There is no “new and wonderful way.”
There is to them, it’s called self-delusion.
“this preacher’s church and his tax exempt status should come into question.”
Were this Bush and his pastor dumped on the left like this, the IRS and media would be swarming like vultures.
That sums it up well.
Anyone who thinks that can be separated from his general political agenda is an idiot.
This leftist @$$hole ‘piscopal preacher has no concept of Jesus, he has no concept of history, has no concept of anything except putting on knee pads for the Usurper in the audience...let him suck on the tootsie role...and then let him go to hell...
The charlatan has contempt for those who can see through him, always dreading the day when the trap finally swings shut.
And, now we know why I abandoned the Episcopal church decades ago.
Then get out of church and join the Occupy crowd.
I’m 55
It was better once overall by a longshot...
Loss of faith in God is the primary culprit
obozo is an atheist, a socialist/communist/marxist/revolutionary/muslim sympathizer and traitor. Period. It infuriates me when he mocks us who “cling to our religion and our guns,” and then makes a show of entering a church on Easter Sunday. He is an evil man. And God will deal with him accordingly.
