Mark is no doubt on the Dem payroll.
He is on Bloomberg’s payroll and he is lobbying Congress for that pay without being registered. He is violating the LDA IMHO.
More like the wife’s payroll. I’m guessing that Mark took a massive financial hit when he divorced his first wife to hook up with Gabby Giffords. Kelly met the future Congresswoman as part of a delegation to China in 2003; a year later, he ditches his wife and children for Giffords. To preserve his Navy and NASA careers, I’m sure that Kelly had to give up a big chunk of his active-duty pay, investments and retirement pension—and rightfully so. Adultery was—and still is—a crime under the UCMJ.
But not to to worry. Ms. Giffords is a multi-millionaire, so in the best tradition of John McCain and John Kerry, Kelly married a woman with a bank account large enough to sustain his upscale lifestyle. In return, he’ll do whatever it takes to keep his second wife happy, including the full embrace of her political party’s views on gun control.
By my calculations, Kelly’s Navy pension is a little over $5,000 a month. He was married to his first wife for more than a decade of his military career, so she’s entitled to half of that, plus he’s probably still paying child support to his daughters. Sure helps having a rich second wife under those circumstances.
