I don’t think China is all that enthusiastic about their spoiled brat causing a scene.

Their economy would be put at risk.

For decades China, South Korea and the United States have accepted the status quo; some saber rattling, the occasional crisis, condemnation and bribes. No one in 50 years has been able to untie the Gordian Knot of North Korea. I think the equation has changed both externally and internally.

The question I have is will the shooting start in Pyongyang, on the 38th parallel or the border with China?

Please keep our front line guardians in mind during the Triduum. I'll bet they are on an elevated alert status.

Didn’t those cretins willfully sink a S.Korean warship last year? Nothing was done, so it emboldened them.

China has a history of using NK to do their dirty work. China has been sabre rattling themselves.

We should tell him to hang on. We'll be sending a top leader over to negotiate peace and lots of new aid and then send Kim Kardashian.

If they have the Chinese backing them, this could be WWIII.

We would be hard pressed to fight the Chinese.

They’re smart if this is their plan. They know we are war weary, we are spread thin across the globe, and we have little confidence due to 70 years of military stalemates.

And let’s just be completely honest: they know good and damn well that Obama will roll over like a pliant dog. The democrats are probably drooling over this. It’s a precursor to America handing over the keys and fading into obscurity by a “controlled descent” albeit very steep.

They don’t really even need missiles. As porous as our borders are and as worthless as homeland insecurity is, they could deliver anything they wanted by truck to anyplace they like. Maybe that’s why Austin is listed as a target. Easy access.

Hindsight is 20/20. Most odds when at best level are 50/50. Calling 40/60 for the moment.

It’s all rhetoric. It’s been nothing but rhetoric for over 50 years. Why would this time be any different?

Because the Kim Jong's are getting goofier

The Chinese and Russians back them. All these people who think that China, for example, is just a self-interested capitalist country that just wants to make money are deluded. They’re a communist state and have never given up on taking us out. The idea of making temporary Capitalist reforms is a well-known one in communist ideology, the idea being to get them up to snuff to face us. Such was Lenin’s New Economic Policy, wherein he even established false-front organizations who spread rumors that the communists were reforming into capitalists. Of course, it was all a lie.

The communists are long-term planners, and have a very different mentality than their western counterparts, who are merely their pawns.

>> Because the Kim Jong’s are getting goofier

I think this is more of an internal matter for Kim Jong Un. If he makes it to his 40’s, he’ll probably be ok, but he has a lot of his military leaders looking down on his lack of age.

Best to keep them busy so they’re not plotting to do away with him.

Motive? What possible motive could NK have in threatening to start a war with SK and the U.S.? Unless national insanity is involved, no nation intending to go to war with another country would give that country a warning. NK would like for the world to think they are insane and would do something like commit national suicide, but do they really intend to start a suicidal war with the U.S.?

IMHO, they are just playing a variation of the old “Protection” game and think they just might be able to “shake down” the U.S.

As the U.S. now has a obviously weak President, they just might get away with it.
