WASHINGTON An unusual and widely felt 5.6-magnitude quake in Oklahoma in 2011 was probably caused when oil drilling waste was pushed deep underground, a team of university and federal scientists concluded.

Ping.
Probably?
Gonna need more evidence than “maybe”.
Well then, it's GOTTA be true!
When you set out to prove a man-made cause you can skew the data to prove your theory....and they did.
probably , maybe....
lolz
Scientists may have “concluded”, but that conclusion wasn’t reached scientifically.
It was a premeditated, agenda driven “conclusion”.
I experienced that earthquake. At the time, the experts said it was not caused by fracking. There is a fault line called the Wilzetta fault near Prague.
“In a statement, the Oklahoma Geological Survey said the interpretation that best fits the data is the quake was the result of natural causes but needs further study. The state officials cited new 3-D seismic data, a time lag between injection and the quakes , and the orientation of the faults to say it was natural not induced.”
As the good Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf would say, “bovine scatology.”
Haven’t you heard? ALL DRILLING IS FRACKING AND WE”RE ALL GONNA DIE!!!!!
Here is a story out of Ann Arbor about the exploration of leases in that county and the liberals are already screeching about fracking with the writer of the story urging them on in the comments. The reality is that Fracking generally isn’t needed for the shallow michigan wells.

This technology, in OK definitely, is 60 years old. This has got to be the most wild ass stack of execrable, shameless posturing I’ve read this week.
If they think a 5.6M is big, wait until the enviro-nuts start “sequestering” CO2 by the bcf deep underground...
The DC quake last year’s seismograph was very weird too, almost like a underground nuke.
Sure, Ya gotta believe the govt scientists and university profs? I wouldnt be inclined to believe these dorks If they tried to convince me that yesterday was, well, yesterday.
Lordy I am sick of the post hoc ergo proper hoc arguments that keep creeping into so called scientific reports
The previous state record quake -- 5.2 magnitude -- occurred in the same area in 1952. Prior to that, there was another five-something back in the twenties. Same area.
Point being there is an extensive earthquake history in the area, going back well beyond the start of injection wells.
I was in Norman during the quake. My dogs started barking followed by a loud bang and then the house shook.
The reason it was so big is because they didn’t pump the waste down sooner.
