Doctor Raoul died Saturday of a rare form of cancer. He was 58.
Raoul's family contacted us this morning to see if they could find out more about his activities as an activist.
This is such a shock. His family is looking for photos and stories about him.
He is and always will be a Free Republic icon.
He kind of fell off the face of the earth about 2 or 3 years ago now. All attempts we made to reach him failed.
If you have photos please contact me. Please feel free to post stories and I will make sure the family sees this thread.
I hear ya.
Bad back and arthritis makes for a crawling FReeper sometimes.
We still need you. Boston accent and all ;-)
I will miss you.

Very sad news. I remember Dr. Raoul. R.I.P.
LOL! I remember that.
Also, when we FReeped the Democratic “Unity” dinner when Lurch was nominated:
“There is a two drink minimum. Everyone has to buy Ted Kennedy two drinks!”
I hope all is well with you.

Ditto.
R.I.P. Doctor Raoul.
RIP Dr. R.
Thanks, I’m doing great.
Classic Doctor Raoul. In front of the White House at a protest and at every Clinton protest thereafter—Doc’s “Cops Cheer” group saying in unison a la over a cop’s bullhorn:
Bill Clinton
We have you surrounded
Drop the cigar
Step away from the intern
And come out with your pants up!
Godspeed, Doc.
Nuts. Rest in peace, from another FReeper long-timer.
I remember meeting up with Doctor Raul in Newark, NJ for a Torricelli fund raiser at the NJ PAC. President Clinton was there and we had great fun!
A few months later Doctor Raul and I met in Elizabeth, NJ for a more personal FReep of President Clinton attending a fundraiser at Rep Lesniak’s home.
He was definitely full of personality and character.
PA Ping!
If you see posts of interest to Pennsylvanians, please ping me.
Thanks!
My favorite Dr Raoul memory was Hillary complaining about how Satan kept showing up at her campaign appearances. Ah, the good ol' days.
I remember the Saturday in the late nineties when I found myself in DC for the weekend. I was moving one of the kids into an apartment.
Four days earlier, I had told Mr ConfettiMan that I was going to try and join them on the Saturday regular protest if I had the chance.
The weather had turned to cold rain and he and others such as the good Dr had left early. I walked the entire fence perimeter twice looking to finally meet them in person. It didn’t happen, much to my disappointment. I told the kid involved that I just pee’d on the fence and left, and knowing how much I detested Clinton, she thought I was serious for a moment.
Both of these young vibrant fellows, activists to the core, ready to put their time on the line, gone way too young. They have my prayers but also my gratitude for their leadership.
In case you didn’t get the word...
So sad to hear this. Rest in peace Dr. Raoul.
Prayers.
