I wonder how many parts from other B52s are melded into that one airframe to keep it flying for 40+ years? Lots, I’d wager.

Awesome photo, but that’s a pretty steep approach angle, due to obstacle avoidance, noise abatement, & all kinds of local area restrictions that have nothing to do with flight safety.

Diving & flaring on final in an A/C that size can get dicey in a hurry.

That’s a great fact.
Guys I worked with (we’re all long retired) were wrenching on B-52s when they were young AF guys in the early 60s.

No Aileron on H models them are Spoilers. last of the buffs TF-33 fans awesome in low level flight, G models the engine cowls where easier to handle but H's so much more power.

It would be awesome-er if they would replace all eight motors with four CF-6s. Talk about a wicked looking monster then.

Corrected. I thought I remembered that just about the time I hit post, honest. It has been a long time since being on the line for the H mod program at Boeing Wichita.

it was practicing for the airshow.. was out there hangar 1017 watching.

I may be phrasing this incorrectly, but what always amazed me about the B-52s on landing was how the landing gear turned..it was like the plane was flying sideways..

(hopefully someone can state it better, maybe posts pics..)

Scary fact, the pilot probably hadn’t been born when that plane first flew.

Heck the pilots parents might not have been born.
