There are so many varying and operative parties involved in this war, additionally all the dis-information out there to drive it, making it difficult to point the finger in any one direction as I see it.

The bottom line, however, is this war is nothing all that unusual when you look at the history of warfare in the M.E.
Much if not all is based on tribal ideology, it doesn't take much for the average man there to pick up arms....and with little reasoning behind that decision.

When you add in the political maneuvering done by all OTHER countries who have a vested interest in Assad's demise and the desired outcome for their individual agenda's,...well as we know it's really never about the people as much as it is the powers that be and their desired end in this whole M.E. affair.

Amongst this we have Russia and China sleeping together now....who pretty much keep their agenda's for the M.E. hidden ....they're to be watched very carefully IMO.

Understand all your points, but what is happening in the ME right now with regards to Syria is unprecedented. We are fighting a covert war against a country that has WMD capability. In the past when you wanted to topple a country with WMD capabilities (Iraq) you establish air superiority through no fly zones. You assembly your armies. Get all the neighbors on your side. Install anti-missile batteries. Launch a campaign of shock and awe and when you go in, you go in with enough force to overwhelm the country before it can launch a WMD counter attack. That was all done in Iraq. And we even fought an earlier war against Saddam where we bombed all Saddam's WMD facilities. And that was done and the bombing was assessed years before the final GWB led war.

You never fight a covert war using terrorists as proxies and Islamic scumbags as weapons suppliers against a country that has WMD capabilities.
