The closures took millions of acres collectively out of the public domain with an economic impact in the low 9 figures....so far...and counting. Tens of thousands of jobs lost too.

But didn't the compromise committee get what they wanted out of the deal? Isn't that all that really matters in the end? /s

Actually no. The people who screamed for compromise also screamed the loudest when ‘compromise’ took effect.

See National Mountain Bike Association/Sierra Club for details.

They were all for compromise. It meant no evil 4x4s to clog ‘their’ trails. But the bans included many of them since they were mechanical conveyance.

OOPS!!!

By now I’m sure they compromised another deal. But at the time they spazzed.
