Congressmen Demand DHS Explain 1.6 Billion Bullets Purchase
Freedom Outpost ^ | Mar. 19, 2013 | Tim Brown

Congressman Leonard Lance (R-NJ) has come out and demanded that Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano explain why the Department of Homeland Security has been engaging in huge amounts of purchases of ammunition over the past year. Rep. Lance has called on Congress to get involved in ascertaining DHS’ stockpiling of ammunition which is enough to wage a 20 year plus war, which has most certainly caused a shortage in the public market.

“I think Congress should ask the Department about both of those issues and I would like a full explanation as to why that has been done and I have every confidence that the oversight committee ….should ask those questions,” said Lance.

“Congress has a responsibility to ask Secretary Napolitano as to exactly why these purchases have occurred,” added the New Jersey congressman.

Lance said the he was “concerned” and that he wanted to make sure that Americans continued to live in a country that was based upon freedom and individual rights. He also hoped that DHS would step forward and answer the question candidly.

Congressman Lance is not the only representative in Washington asking ‘Big Sis’ why she is purchasing large amounts of ammunition. We Are Change’s Luke Rudkowski interviewed Congressman Timothy Huelscamp (R-KS) at the 2013 CPAC on his decision to vote against the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) and also asked they also discussed Obama’s Disposition Matrix and the large ammunition purchases made by the DHS.

True, but the Hunt brothers weren’t shrouded by the cloak of government “protection”.

If the article is accurately reporting the situation, i.e., "They (DHS) refuse to answer the question..." then our form of government has effectively been overthrown. No agency administrator ignores a congressional inquiry unless he's assured of air cover from the White House, and complicit leadership in the House and Senate. It's a coup d'etat. You're living through one.

“It’s obvious, they’re pulling bullets from the market to make them unavailable and unaffordabe. It’s evil and insidious.”

The idea of shorting the supply of bullets through over-purchase is Girl Scout stuff when compared to illegally and knowingly sending arms into Mexico to known drug cartels.

Personally, I would ask for “under oath” testimony to the reasons and the instigation for these purchases and use Fast ‘n Furious as my reason for being so mistrustful of their actual intent.

1,600,000,000 bullets divided by 330,000,000 people in the USA, equals nearly 5 bullets for every man, woman and child in America.

If past history of government law enforcement marksmanship is any indicator. They're going to need alot more than 5 per person. On average less than a 20% hit ratio in gun fights.

The ammo manufactures should limit the amounts the gov’t buys for a certain time period so as to keep a balance with the consumer market. A responsible ammo company would do that.

The Supreme Court has ruled that the government may not engage in an act that results in the abatement of a Cinstitutional right. I this case, it is then clearly illegal to buy up all the bullets to I interfere with the 2nd Amendment right to bear arms. Why is nobody but Levin hitting this Constitutional point of law?

Reasons:

1) to use against Americans in a Civil War.

2) to bleed the market so that we can’t buy what we want—Obama must ALWAYS get his way.

3) all of the above.

I want to be very very wrong on this, but it sure seems that we are being forced into a war by enemies within.

“Fundamentally change America”— that promise he is keeping, in spades.

Here’s what we know so far:

* Homeland Security has bought enough rounds to shoot every American 4.5 times.

* Americans have enough ammo to shoot every Homeland Security employee 45,783 times.

* Americans have enough ammo to shoot Janet Napolitano 24,675,345,567 times.

So, where are going with this story? Is this a math quiz?

He can ask for and demand an explanation from Nappy, but getting one is another story.

Subpoena the old crone now, by next Christmas she might even show up.

Well, when you don’t have a budget you can purchase anything you want or don’t want for that matter. I FINALLY heard on the news that there has not been a federal budget in 4 years. I was shocked to actually hear those words. Where was that reporting during the elections.

That should be the top news story for the month of August and September. “Where’s the budget?”

Any good ammo producer will take the revenues produced from this sale, call it retained earnings: in order to procure the means to increase production to meet the demand. So next year they will have the capacity to produce twice as much as this past year.

unless one of those rumors floating around out there in regard to these not really being for ammo, but for aid to terrorists.

Let’s see. They’re blowing gobs of government debt on old ladies’ hysteria and expensive ammo today. I’ll have cheap ammo for recreational plinking and roast beef tomorrow.

I’m really surprised that the price of popcorn hasn’t gone way up (for watching the national political crazy show).

It has been widely reported that DHS chief has been reading Free Republic and learned that purchasing lead and brass is a better investment than gold.

She has now sucked into an ammo bubble

To paraphrase Joe Biden, if DHS can’t take down a bad guy with just one or two shots, then we don’t want them running through the neighborhood spraying another 1.6 billion bullets.

1600M you would think means 1600 million, which is 1.6 billion.

However:

Page 29 of the Defense Logistics Agency, Customer Assistance Handbook lists the QUP (Quantity Unit Pack) as M=50.

The purchase order for 1600M equals 1600 boxes of 50 rounds.

I’ve only been using the national stock system for 42 years so what do I know.
