STEUBENVILLE - Jefferson County Prosecutor Jane Hanlin and her family had to leave town during the juvenile rape trial because of threats made against both her and her family.
Sunday evening, Hanlin confirmed that threats had been made, and she found them to be credible. Hanlin said there were instances of threats before, but the number of threats of a specific nature grew.
"As the trial date grew closer, we received a number of them that seemed to be more credible than others," Hanlin said.
Presumption of innocence till proven guilty (beyond a reasonable doubt) in a court of law.
Reasonable doubt doesn't mean shadow of a doubt. There was sexual contact. Two individuals admitted that there was. The only question is whether under Ohio law that she was able to consent. The individuals were found guilty, as I expected because that defense attorney (As shown in his strategy) did not have much to work with. Video and pictures tend to hamper this case which was quite open and shut.
But apparently “sputtering” isn’t the quote I asked for....
No I don't. And I find their absence rather conspicuous.
She used to date one of the guys. This was his revenge because she broke up with him.
” If she abdicates that responsibility by getting drunk (knowing what could happen), then yes, she has slut written all over herself.”
So if you want on a fishing trip with the guys and got drunk and they decided to rape you, we could conclude that you are a slut and were asking to be raped.
In my world, drinking does not equate to “deserves to be raped” but maybe you Muslims are different.
They “were subsequently convicted of rape.
And they should have been. But that doesn’t excuse her. People who are drunk are held accountable every day in our legal system. Think drunk drivers...
Then why attempt a defense instead of the local equivalent of "no contest?"
What’s most disturbing to me in all this is the role of the coaches and community. It seems like this town produced a group of guys who believed they were the equivalent of God. Either that, or the equivalent of animals... Maybe animals who have a right to be honored as if they were God...
It is truly disturbing. If the head coach told the guys to get rid of the evidence, and if he threatened a journalist who asked why the kids were not disciplined on the team, and if it’s true that the assistant coaches hosted the parties at which these guys were getting wasted and raping people... these coaches and all the people who think they are doing these guys a favor by revering them like that are in fact creating monsters.
Absolute power corrupts absolutely. It’s true in government and it’s true in other areas of life. That’s what fallen humanity means. People largely do what they can get away with.
What these boys did was awful; the calculating and remorseless way they dehumanized her and themselves is chilling. But I do feel sorry for these boys. They lived by the creed they had seen demonstrated EVERYWHERE - by their coaches, by sit-coms, by the politicians, by their values-free public education, perhaps even by their “church” if they belonged to a “progressive church”. They were supposed to realize that those people were all just lying to them for their own selfish purposes but instead they BELIEVED it. The depravity of the whole society is on display, but the faces that bear the shame are not Piers Morgan and Barack Obama. They are these kids who had the gullibility to take the society’s double-speak at face value.
I hope and pray that these boys will see how deceived they were, that Satan really and truly wants to destroy them and will use any lie at his disposal to do so, and realize that they need forgiveness and restoration. I hope that in prison they will get what they need so that the depraved mind will die and be replaced with a mind that is right. I pray the same thing for the girl and for all the adults involved, as well as those in our society who have given themselves over to depravity.
God offers new beginnings, and it seems there are a lot of people who have been exposed as desperately needing a new beginning. Those of us who have been through the process of repentance realize that there is still hope for all who have fallen.
Here's a quote just a few back, even though they were convicted of this small crime called RAPE you choose to say the following about her: That sounds more like a participant.
As I've said before, you seem incapable of saying anything intelligent about this at all. Anyone can look at what you've said about this, it's all pretty damn stupid, all extraordinarily indefensible, yet you keep on saying the same ridiculous things.
Congrats on your consistency.
Prob would depend on the size of the drink. :-) Also, if you talk to cops, they'll tell you the pat answer to "How much have you had to drink this evening?" is "One drink." Doesn't matter if the person is mostly sober, or can't stand up.
But...in all seriousness, I might have. It's unlikely, but I could see it happening, especially if the drinker had tolerance issues.
For instance, I more-or-less stopped drinking when I had kids. While in college, a 12-pack used to be a warm up for the evening's events, and then I'd really start in. Now, I can "feel" one beer, and with two, there'd be no way I'd get behind the wheel of a car. And, I'm not a small guy.
However, if you're thinking that she might have been drugged, that's also a good possibility, as well.
If Mrs WBill had asked you if you wanted a vasectomy during that time and completed the vasectomy before you came back to, would you have felt that you had given legal consent to the procedure?
“In my world, drinking does not equate to deserves to be raped but maybe you Muslims are different.”
Your being stupid Appy, and that’s not like you. At no point did I excuse the boys action. If you remember, I referred to them as evil...
I don't think this can be compared to a drunk driver. Did you ever do something stupid as a 16 year old?
No. That’s an easy one.
Of the guy filming, you idiot.
How many times are you going to dodge providing the quote that proves your accusations against me?
It’s You’re
Here’s what YOU said:
“If she abdicates that responsibility by getting drunk (knowing what could happen), then yes, she has slut written all over herself.”
Sorry dude. That’s exactly what you said. You said she deserved it for getting drunk. That is reprehensible and you need to wear the evil to which you ascribe. You are no better than the Muslims who rape women for being in public with a man.
lol
So even if somebody appeared to be capable of consent they might not be, depending on what drug was in their system.
I don't think it happens like this everywhere, there are a lot of great sports programs that give character building experiences to young men they might not get otherwise.
Hopefully the boys who did this will change their course.
“Did you ever do something stupid as a 16 year old?”
Actually I did when I was 18. I woke up in bed with two girls in Trinidad. I had no idea who they were or how I got there. I wasn’t used to beer, and I have no idea if they took advantage of me. They did take my money though, and I had to walk back to the ship.
Just go back several days, your moronic take on this topic is easy for anyone to find. Every time you post something on this topic, you make a bigger jack ass of yourself: http://www.freerepublic.com/tag/by:papertyger/index?tab=comments;brevity=full;options=no-change
