As she has done many times before, bestselling author Ann Coulter delivered an uncensored critique of the Republican party at this year’s Conservative Political Action Conference. Her criticisms this year were harshest when it came to the party’s current divide on the topic of comprehensive immigration reform.
Following up on her column from last month, Coulter argued that the GOP needs to have a tough but cohesive message on immigration policy, but not the one that many party leaders have touted lately.
One public policy that will harm average Americans, drive up unemployment permanently, and is supported by businessmen who will never vote for a Republican anyway, is amnesty for illegal aliens, she said.
She went on to outline the consequences of Republican support for amnesty and how it could lead to the destruction of the conservative movement.
If amnesty goes through, America becomes California, and no Republican will ever win another national election. The state that gave us Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan will never elect another Republican, said Coulter.
Coulters tough stance on immigration reform helped attendees understand why she could not support a popular figure like Chris Christie, who is pro-amnesty, for president in 2016. She instead offered her thoughts on who the GOP should nominate for the top of the ticket in three years.
You cant run a congressman. I have learned that,” she said. “You cant run a governor from a state that is as big as a congressional district. Thats the equivalent of running a congressman. And we can’t run businessmen, pundits, or candidates who have not won elections in at least midsize states.”
So who does that leave for the ultra-conservative pundit? Options that fit Coulters bill included Gov. Brian Sandoval of Nevada, Gov. Susana Martinez of New Mexico, Gov. Rick Snyder of Michigan, Gov. Paul LePage of Maine, Gov. Rick Scott of Florida, Gov. Mike Pence of Indiana, and Gov. John Kasich of Ohio. She was also willing to back the new kid on the block, Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas.
Then it is Bush’s fault for non-enforcement of that law. Please, no more Bushes.
I’m not sure I know at all what your saying. But if your saying what i think your saying, we are no longer capable of ending the “fiesta”.
We must either adapt to it or die.
ah... I was not suggesting doom. Only faith... only, only faith in God.
I’m afraid your suggestion would never work. It reminds me of when guys like Sean Hannity rattle off on the now-irrelevant fact that a higher percentage of Senate Republicans voted for the Civil Rights Act. Or when he talks about “Robert KKK Byrd”. It all comes across as desperate, because it is all pointless.
It is no doubt true that some of the black, latino, and Asian support for Democrats results from the Democrats (and their media allies) branding the GOP as racist. But we have to face the fact that those groups simply favor the Democrat position on most issues. They are liberal groups, and they aren’t going to support the less liberal party.
Coulter is absolutely right about amnesty; it is a guaranteed vote creating policy for the Democrats. Most of those amnestied who go on to become citizens and vote, will vote Democrat. Most of the millions of relatives they will then sponsor through mass legal immigration will go on to vote Democrat. Most of the children of the amnestied illegals and chain migration legal immigrants will vote Democrat.
That’s just the way it is. The GOP should be offering it’s own version of comprehensive immigration reform, where illegal aliens are not given a path to citizenship, where chain migration is ended, where the Diversity Visa is abolished, where refugee settlements are much fewer and smaller, and where overall legal immigration is greatly reduced. They can try this and maybe it will work, maybe it will fail. But at least it would be a conservative alternative. And the alternative is to simply hasten the demographic destruction of the GOP.
She's exactly right and that is the dem plan.
Yeah sure. ..But you'll shrug and reward the GOP establishment with a vote for Jeb if that's who they give you.
How disgusting.
I will vote for Jeb only if Jeb’s opponent is a democrat.
Which is why I am successful in life. I know who will help me and who will hurt me. Only fools help elect narcissist socialists like Obama. Don’t tell me you abstained from voting for Romney and include yourself in that category of fools. I hope you are not a complete fool.
“ah... I was not suggesting doom. Only faith... only, only faith in God.”
God does not help thous that do not help themselves.
We must find a way to break the racial barrier.
That means:
1: understanding how democrats polarize minatory to vote along racial lines rather than natural political belelives.
2: blocking and/or reversing that lock to free them to vote their values.
The evidence I have thus seen seems to indcate that miniority democrats are as a group largly held hostiage to the idea of racism and hate for them comeing from our party.
* The democrats kindle encorage and contently work to reinforce this false notion.
What can we do?
1: we can try to tell them the truth about us. (parsical success on 1 on 1 basis but group fail due to resource limitations).
2: We can use the Democrats own race bating tactics against them by campaigning to show how democrats hate them.
3: We can seek to shut down and isolate any republican that damages our brand by speaking this way.(Impossible among a group of millions, as there is always a fire somewhere in the USA.)
You would vote for a former governor who got stared down by a freaking county probate judge and then stood by wringing his hands while the world watched on their TVs the excruciating, month-long, murder-by-starvation of a disabled woman? Maybe I’m a fool, but you’re something else entirely.
You go ahead and keep on rewarding the people who hand you the likes of McCain and Romney (the father of gay marriage and Obamacare). Congratulations.
You were an inspirational force in stopping the Bush-McCain Amnesty in 2005-2006.
Now, Amnesty 2013 is an existential threat to American Conservatives.
Please know that at least one Freeper has extended his hand in friendship and appreciates your help in this political battle that MUST be won.
That is a plan, although, it may not be broad enough. There is no true racial barrier. Only those who promote such bs, on any side. There are actually only two sides- the politicals vs freedom. Let US choose Freedom, again
The bottom line is quite simple, our party, our cause, and our country will be doomed if we go along with amnesty, no matter what it is called.
Only political principle and political goals.
90% of Blacks reject Conservative principles and goals.
75% of Hispanics and Asians reject them, too.
Not just in America.
They reject our principles in Africa, they reject them in Latin America, and they reject them in Asia.
And, in case you haven’t noticed, white Europeans reject our principles in Europe.
We are a sovereign nation.
It is absolutely within our power to stop granting citizenship to 1 million new Socialists each year.
No the cowards were the ones that sold their principles and deemed that we must elect Romney. I broke my word again and voted for the scum Romney, but if I live long enough I will never vote for the Scummy GOPe candidate they offer up next time.
“We are a sovereign nation.” Not any longer, and have not been, for quite a long time. Just ask the UN. How will we change Our status quo?
A nation that cannot control its borders is not a nation.
Ronald Reagan
And yet, he sold our southern borders, a couple of times.
Start with fines, and if they do it again, jail time for the one(s) who did the hiring. Nobody’s going to be willing to go to jail for cheap labor.
e12, these morons who helped re-elect obama, and next will help hillary, are digging us into a pit so deep we will never get out.
Once they control the Supreme Court, we are screwed.
