I don’t recall this much of an organized display when they announced Pope Benedict. I’m thinking I must have missed it, although I remember watching Pope JPII’s funeral. I was too young to watch when he was elected to the papacy.
It will be interesting to see who they have chosen. Especially for someone like me who is still contemplating coming back - it’s a long road, but a good one. I recently attended several Latin Masses, and even though I do not understand much of it, it’s an interesting change from the masses I attended growing up. Plus, the monsignors seem more open to my coming back - based upon a ‘good thorough confession’ vs. the pastor of our local parish that wants me to go through a year of RCIA, and several other things, even though I am already confirmed. (It may be beneficial in many ways, but it’s not like I don’t know my catechism any longer... lol)
Anyway, I’m glad I could come here on FR and not subject myself to the type of ridicule I see on Facebook. It gets extremely tiresome to hear so many disparaging remarks when my experience within the Church was so positive, personally.
God bless and keep you and welcome Home! Salvation posts the Baltimore Catechism, and I will send you the link later. It’s good to read as a refresher!
Here we go!
P.S.
Benedict had a very big ceremony!
Thanks for your post and I pray all goes well for you...
Welcome home, if you should decide to do that.
I’m wondering if they haven’t printed up missals with Latin on one page and English on the opposite page the way they used to do before the English Mass. Not many people speak Latin, so it might be worth a look for a Catholic book store.
