Undercover cops fatally shot a teenager in Brooklyn last night after he pointed a loaded gun at an officer, police sources and witnesses said.
Kimani Gray, 16, was shot in the leg and stomach when he whipped out a .38-caliber revolver after adjusting the waistband on his pants, said cops.
The two undercover officers, driving a red umarked car, had approached the group of teens because they were acting suspiciously on East 52nd Street near Snyder Street in East Flatbush just before 11:30 p.m.

.357 mags wear my wrist out fast. 3 rounds and I’m done. Sure glad I can get some use of the gun with .38’s.
.357 mag case is about 1/10" longer than the .38 spl but otherwise the same. They wanted to make sure that someone wouldn't try to shoot mag ammo out of the .38 spl revolver so they named it by using diameter between the lands or so I've heard.
For those that don't know one can shoot .38 spl out of a .357 mag but not vice versa. Same with the .44 mag and .44 spl.
Yes for most revolver stuff and rifle. Never tried in semis.

Exactly
It’s da truth! I swear it is. :-)
There should be a recipe for black powder in a .38 special level load. It should work in most of the rounds designed in the 19th century. Good argument for a .45 long Colt revolver in today’s political climate.
That should be .45 Colt not .44.
Yeah, we quickly wander into “clinging to our guns” territory but always in an informative way.

.22 LR will kill you deader than dirt. If some has their empty hand in their jacket pocket and tells me that it’s a gun I will believe them and take appropriate action.
Gray had a rap sheet that included charges of grand larceny and inciting a riot, police sources said.
Ok if you say so but it looks just like my colt trooper
This only happens in old or defective guns that were made before the introduction of the .357, which do not have a shoulder in the chamber to prevent loading the longer round.
Those guns are not defective they were made exactly as they were intended to be made. There are thousands of them in existence. Face it, you’re arguing against the reality that .38s and .38 specials exist that .357 cartridges will slide right into and present a serious danger. It’s irresponsible and reckless to tell people that “.357 cartridges won’t ‘go in’ a .38.”
I don’t care to argue, and bow to your obviously vastly superior expertise.
My expertise? I just conceded every point to you. What more do you want? A hug and a pat on the head for defending the inexcusable?
When you decide to rejoin reality let me know.
