Sen. Rand Paul just offered to end his filibuster and allow a vote on CIA nominee John Brennan if he could get a vote tomorrow on a non-binding resolution regarding drone killing of US citizens on US soil. But Assistant Majority Leader Dick Durbin objected to allowing a vote on the resolution. So Paul resumed speaking.
Paul's resolution said it was the sense of the Senate that "the use of drones to execute or target American citizens on American soil who pose no imminent threat clearly violates Constitutional rights" of due process.

I’m curious as to why anyone believes that a resolution or a law or the Constitution will stop these people from doing what they want. They have demonstrated repeatedly that they believe themselves above the law.
Call your Democratic senator and say “ OH good. Because there WILL be a Republican president in the future, and then what?” Will it be OK then? Then say you can’t wait till the tides are turned on them.
“Obama and his administration are mere mortals.”
I’m not so sure about that.
The question is why should any government drone be flying over America? Crime is falling. Has anyone heard of the 4th Amendment?
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.[
Secure in my person against unresonable searches is sufficient to ground the governments drone fleet and get rid of its street corner cameras. We don’t need a state security apparatus constantly filming us. The US isn’t a war zone. The onus is on government and drone use should be restricted and limited.
Look at warrant abuse in the failed War on Drugs. What Paul and Cruz are doing is saying, “drones in our skies is OK, just don’t kill a non-imminent threat.” That’s already the law and standard in any police action.
Just say “no” to drones in US skyies.
Hypocritical scumbags.
Now that is good!
“Sen. Rand Paul just offered to end his filibuster and allow a vote on CIA nominee John Brennan if he could get a vote tomorrow on a non-binding resolution regarding drone killing of US citizens on US soil.”
I wasn’t into this drone’s killing Americans stuff as I lumped it in with people spending their time attempting to prove Obama isn’t a natural-born citizen...but the Democrat reaction is FRIGHTENING. I’m also fine with drones targeting and killing Americans that decide to play jihad in the Middle East, by going to their training camps. But I draw the line on American soil, for sure.
Paul’s offer to end the filibuster for a worthless “sense of the Senate” resolution has TOTALLY OUTED the Democrats. These were the same people that tried to jail two Republican Presidents for wanting to simply aid the fight against Communist governments in the Western Hemisphere (not even fight, just send a few dollars). The Boland Amendment, which was used to string up President’s Bush and Reagan (i.e., Iran Contra), wasn’t a “Sense of the Senate”, it was federal law, imposed by Democrats, to protect a Communist Dictator...to the point of throwing American presidents in jail if they didn’t abide.
In this case, the president and the Justice Department would still be welcome to shoot drones at Americans in Texas, since the resolution was non-binding, but EVEN THAT was too much for the Democrats to stomach.
We NAILED them here. I’m no fan of Paul, but THANK YOU!!!
I just about hurled when I flipped the TV back to Cspan2 late last night and, lo and behold, there’s Turbin Durbin.
So obviously the dem party is in favor of the country killing its citizens when the president is a dem. But when the president is a normal person, they condemn it.
Don’t forget your history.
Bubba killed Americans without drones. He set fires and burned them alive at Waco. Drones are merely an iteration in the killing without cause
“Apparently the demonrats want to be able to assasinate any american they want, anytime they want, for any reason they want.”
And what is to say that the Dems won’t use, oh I don’t know, say 2700 light infantry vehicles and a billion or so rounds of ammunition to kill a couple of hundred thousand tea party protesters who descend on Washington?
All Barack has to say is they are an imminent threat to the security of the US.
I’m painting a giant middle finger on my roof.
laura w @laurww@AceofSpadesHQ + this administration hates parsing what is constitutional, and what is not, B/C that discussion empowers the Constitution.
You take what you can get and keep moving the ball back to the opponent's own goal. What we've had since Reagan has been nothing but fumbles, intentional groundings, interceptions, safeties, and Wrongway McCain just taking the ball and running it for for the opposing team.
Cruz and Paul have come along and figured out that to stop socialism you have to actually stand up and fight it.
Ted/Rand 2016
LOL
Just how will the left react when the leadership is not theirs to wield. The Dems are foaming
at the mouth with power and do not conceive they will lose it.
I stand with Rand.
I don’t believe it will.
They will simply seize that power.
However it is the only civil route we have at this time to ensure that our paranoid and insane government doesn’t begin to assasinate people it defines as a threat.
We have to start somewhere.
And as far as Lesley graham saying that it’s ridiculous to think that they would want to do this...no, Leslie, it is ridiculous not to think it.
Nothing.
They are trying to render us defenseless for a reason, and it’s not for our safety.
Exactly right
I'm actually OK if Obama wants to come out and state that he wants to kill me. IF he's willing to do it himself, face to face. C'mon Barry, make my day
