...the Laugh-In line, “And General Franco is still dead.” I never got the joke but they used it often enough that it got a hugh laugh.

Actually, it was from Saturday Night Live. I never got that joke either.

Actually it was just another way the Left smeared the memory of a great man, who saved Spain from Communism.

Actually, it was from Saturday Night Live. I never got that joke either.

The joke was that Franco had been dying for months, and the news night after night was basically variations of "Franco still alive." So when he died, SNL started reporting "Franco still dead." Thirty-five years later the context is kinda lost.
