There is a reason they call it the "History/Hitler" Channel.

So far in the book of Genesis ...

1. No mention of Ishamel being a wild ass of a man raising his hand against all other nations (a kotow to Islam).

2. The story of Lot, Sodom, and the 2 angels. It was presented from the revisionist homosexualist perspective, i.e., the sin of Sodom was inhospitality, not homosexual sex with the 2 angels.

Will watch some more, but certainly looks like the producers chose to take their script from The Queen James Bible, 2012.

You do have to admit that gang rape is pretty inhospitable.

The producers definitely blocked out the butt boys of Sodom and Gomorrah.

Bad on em.

Hopefully, the story will pick up from there.

Lamb in the thicket, not a ram. Small detail but a detail just the same.

Didn't see this thread, so I started one. Admins can kill that thread.

Quality production so far, but with non-insignificant errors.

Abram and Sari had their names changed to Abraham and Sarah later. This part of the story begins with the Call to Abram to leave his father's land, and already they use their latter names.

Sodom was depicted as evil, but no hint as to the sin the city was known for.

To Isaac, Abraham said, "God will provide 'FOR HIMSELF' a sacrifice". These two words were left out and this looses the important allusion to God's Sacrifice = His Son, His Only Son.

In Gen 22, it says Isaac carried the wood for the sacrifice. In this production, Abraham and Isaac both carry the wood - again missing the allusion to the future Sacrifice by God - ie Isaac carrying the wood as laetr Christ would carry the tree.

It was rather clear that the inhabitants had turned away from God and the show so far has stayed with scripture. Sending Ishmael into the desert should surely get some people thinking. I’m sure each of us would have included different aspects and done things a little differently but it had to have been a daunting task to decide what to include and how to structure the show to both keep peoples attention and stay true to scripture at the same time. Overall I think they are doing a good job.

Well, if the History Channel’s version of the Bible isn’t your cup of Tea, you could watch “Fighting Creeping Creationism” on PBS’s Moyers and Company.

Moyers, just another sniveling Commie being funded by the Taxpayers.

I have to get back to my park ranger job, but our pastor (LCMS) said if we watch this, don’t take this as the real deal of Scripture. I’d be very cautious of this production. His wife said it may be the work of the devil in many scenes.

Ishmael was not the progenitor of the Arab peoples.

It was the average entertainment...I thought many liberties taken to tell a plain story.
Sarah was way too young. Ishmael never taunted Sarah and issac. The bible doesn’t tell of Moses learning he was adopted....way too much made up stuff.
It was a little worse that I hoped for. I won’t watch the rest...

I suspect the writers and producers have a limited amount of time to go from Genesis to The New Testament. I don't think Sodom was trivialized as such and the writers are trying to make this viewable for family. Parents can explain Sodom.

This movie like many including"Jesus of Nazareth, The Greatest Story Ever Told, The Ten Commandments, and one of my favorites "Gospel Road" will not cover all bases nor can they in time constraints. They also didn't show Lot or Noah getting drunk.

Still it may be perhaps enough to get people thinking. I'd say the best of this series is yet to be seen. A movie I don't expect to be word for word nor exact. For example I don't think Joshua was born when the actual Exodus began or if he was he wasn't of the age of accountability. The generation that rebelled against GOD in the wilderness did not see The Promised Land.

If you want accuracy 100% The bible is the only place and truth comes Spirit Lead. But we also have to remember many of the early converts to Christianity were not saved by someone reading written scripture but rather by word of mouth accounts of witnesses. Scrolls were few and far between. Yet The Word Of GOD in truth will remain intact.

I’m taping this and will watch it tomorrow; it’s on, but I’ve been distracted with work and other obligations.

All I know (as a huge “Touched by an Angel” fan) is Roma Downey and her husband Mark Burnett are faithful Christians, and given that they are involved, I think it will be excellent.

They can’t fit in everything in the Bible into a mini-series. I think it will be inspiring and quite moving.

Just as Mel Gibson’s movie was. When I saw it, I cried—and met elderly people who had seen it over and over. I bought it and watch it every Easter season. My son (17) is probably old enough to watch it, though I would never have my 13 year-old daughter do so.

It seems no one can make anything religious-oriented without being criticized.

Julie
