Lawmakers in at least half a dozen states, including California, Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York and Pennsylvania, have proposed legislation this year that would require gun owners to buy liability insurance much as car owners are required to buy auto insurance. Doing so would give a financial incentive for safe behavior, they hope, as people with less dangerous weapons or safety locks could qualify for lower rates.
I believe that if we get the private sector and insurance companies involved in gun safety, we can help prevent a number of gun tragedies every year, said David P. Linsky, a Democratic state representative in Massachusetts who wants to require gun owners to buy insurance. He believes it will encourage more responsible behavior and therefore reduce accidental shootings. Insurance companies are very good at evaluating risk factors and setting their premiums appropriately, he added.
Groups representing gun owners oppose efforts to make insurance mandatory, arguing that law-abiding people should not be forced to buy insurance to exercise their constitutional right to bear arms. But some groups, including the National Rifle Association, endorse voluntary liability policies for their members. And as several states pass laws making it easier for people to carry concealed weapons and use them for self-defense, some gun groups are now selling policies to cover some of the legal costs stemming from self-defense shootings.

I realize this may be a dumb question, and Im fully prepared to receive a rhetorical boot to the head (adjusts helmet).
But with regard to all this new gun legislation, wont it all be stopped in the House of Representatives?
I mean given the rock ribbed adherence to Liberty by the likes of John McCain (pausing for laughter) we really shouldnt have to worry about the Senate as well but
Bottom line, how much danger are we in?
IMHO, we are in the fight of our lives. They are out to remove the 2nd Amendment and any and all Guns and ammo. They will fight, TAX, and pass (laws)that will enslave us.
We the people must fight to protect our GOD given rights.

Partially correct. Peaceably traveling from place to place using contemporary conveyances is also a right. Wars have been fought over this.
“Lets tax homosexuals...they COST more than most in the medical system”
Nope, can’t do it, fudgepacking is a “pre-existing condition.”
That's all fine and good, unless and until you attract the attention of Law Enforcement for ANY reason. As soon as that happens, all bets are off.
Requiring Gun Insurance is nothing more than Gun Registration in sheeps clothing.

Hold onto your hat, my FRiend. We’re in for a rough ride .
Let me guess. The (ill)liberal logic (or lack thereof) is that forceing law abiding gun owners to purchase liability insurance will reduce the number of incidents where a child or othe person is ACCIDENTLY killed or injured by a firearm. So, what are the actual statistics on children or other persons who are killed by accidental gunfire? Are these incidents predominantly occuring in homes where there is a legal firearm owner? Or, do these incidents occur primarily in homes where the firearm is not so legally owned?
I have no doubt of that, but do we have the stopgap of the House of Representatives?
We could be looking at Armageddon if the acolytes of Santa Preezy have their way in 2014 all bets would be off.
But do we at last have some breathing space until then?
BTW, thank you for using our GOD given rights. You dont know how that upsets the lefties - that in itself is something to behold.
I have made it a mission to only keep about a third or my items and ammo on site. The rest is scattered about, some at the bottom of the lake :)
Do we “have some breathing space” I hope that we do have time, however plan on having NO time at all.
We must band together and act as one in this fight to protect our “GOD given Rights”.
Now is the time, if not now, then when will you fight???

Let me go get lots of popcorn...
Low information voters is one thing. Stupid, moronic legislators is something else entirely.
Same thing with a tax per bullet. Think about it*.
Is freedom of Speech still a right affirmed by the constitution if these idiots impose a tax on 100,000 "forbidden words?"
*Yes, "the power to tax is STILL the power to destroy"
What are these people thinking?
It's there; it's called "preview." The only additional tools required are your own eyeballs, and your ability to read and know simple English.
best to send you observation to the makers of Word and other word processing software!
No edit function is obviously needed in ANY software, because according to you everyone gets it right the first time but me apparently.
