(CNSNews.com) A group of House Democrats labeling themselves the Safe Climate Caucus held a press conference today to warn that if Congress does not address global warming, the country could face dire consequences, including detrimental effects to California wines and an end to Vermont skiing.
One Democratic representative even worried that global warming could destroy the state of Maryland.
If we do nothing about what is happening, it will destroy our economy, it will destroy our state, and it will have a broad impact not just here in this country but around the world, Maryland Rep. Donna Edwards (D-Md.) said at a press conference on Capitol Hill on Friday.
Representative Jared Huffman (D-Calif.) feared that global warming could damage the ancient forests and vineyards in his district.
Climate change is going to impact my coastal district not just in terms of coastal communities and infrastructure but also the health of our oceans and coastal fisheries, Huffman said.
It will impact the great ancient forests in my district [and] it will even threaten to impact the world-class quality of the wine produced in Sonoma and Mendocino counties, he said.
Representative Earl Blumenauer (D-Ore.) worried there might not be any skiing in Vermont and that the states famous maple trees could also be threatened by global warming.
In introducing Vermont Rep. Peter Welch (D-Vt.), Blumenauer said Welch comes from the state of Vermont that climate change is going to have there will no longer be skiing and even the maple trees will be threatened.
Despite the dramatic claims, Rep. Edwards insisted that she and her colleagues were not alarmists.
The fact is that those of us who are here are not alarmists, we are not eco-hystericals, were not socialists, she said. We care about our climate and we want to do something about it.
The thing that is destroying the state of Maryland is it’s Democrat politicians and voters.
Our farms are being eaten up by liberals moving in to run from the blacks in PG and Montgomery Counties.
Yes they scream about how liberal they are and yet they run away down to our rural counties to get away from it, then they destroy our counties like they did the ones they just ran away from.
A picture is worth a thousand words.
That picture explains everything.
Prince George’s County. If they give Maryland an enema they will plug the tube into Prince Georges County.
I'd say they are born with the same gifts as constituency. That's not racist because it true.
Global Warming is a religion. And there should be separation of “church” and state.
Yeah, off-shore wind ...that will work. NOT.
"We're just nuts."
Right. Replace one enclave of liberal voters with another...
You say that like it’s a good thing. Offshore wind is a worthless as onshore wind. All cost, no benefit. But it makes Marty feel good.
Hell, Maryland is already not worth a damn. Global warming can’t destroy that which is already tattered and torn trash.
All energy pollutes to some degree. Is energy worth it? I’ll give you two anecdotes: today I will not freeze to death despite the wind and low 20’s outside. Nor will my house be destroyed by frozen pipes. Second I will go visit friends 50 miles away without thinking twice about whether I can afford the trip or whether I will freeze in an electric car with no heat or stand around waiting for a train.
Please allow me to translate Democrat-Speak:
"The fact is that those of us who are here are alarmists, we are eco-hystericals, were socialists, she said.
Why are so many women drawn to Communism like a moth to a flame?
Regrettably, there may have been something missing from your research. Solids do not remain suspended or float in liquids. Gravity causes solids, such as sand and rock particles, to sink and liquids rise to the surface. While some erosion of pipes occur, the overall method of gravity and straining do impose a substantial erosion of pipes which is not manageable. For this one, gleeaikin, more research is needed by yourself. All piping systems experience erosion. One would be surprised at the erosion of sewer piping, but the erosion is manageable in sewer piping and is also manageable for this situation.
I will have to pay for this boondoggle twice. Once from my federal taxes and a second time when Virginia electricity consumers have to buy some of that expensive Maryland power.
You seem to be born without the gift of writing proper English.
The above sentence is incorrect.
Should read as follows:
While some erosion of pipes occurs, the overall method of gravity and straining do impose a substantially less erosion capability in pipes of these types of transfers and is manageable.
My apology .. I should proof read more.
Even today I hear that most residents of Washington, DC go to Baltimore to escape the summer heat and humidity. (/sarc for any Safe Climate Caucus members reading this.)
