The Obama administration warned on Friday that across-the-board spending cuts set to take effect in March may result in furloughing every U.S. meat and poultry inspector for two weeks, causing the meat industry to shut down.
By law, meatpackers and processors are not allowed to ship beef, pork, lamb and poultry meat without the Agriculture Department's inspection seal.
The prospect of mass furloughs of meat and food inspectors was part of a broader White House warning about the effects of the potential spending cuts on everyday life. Meatpackers said a shut-down would devastate consumers as well as their industry.

I think you are missing the point. The point isn’t to COMPROMISE.
The point is to PUNISH. If it goes through, it will be a solid 2 weeks, and “The One” will point the finger at the pubbies and the Joey Goebbels and Baghdad Bobs of the msm will scream to high heaven about what those “wascally wepublicans” have done.
This tactic is not new.
Just harken back to the days of Slick Willie and the gov shutdown that HE orchestrated. All the press and bureauKaRATZ lined up sob stories about how those pubbies were soooo meeeaaannn.

You would think that the geniuses (I refer to Congressional Republicans in this case, quite facetiously) who so believe that they have the answer to all our lives, that they spend millions to get elected, only to go against our wishes in “our best interests”, would have a plan when something perfectly foreseeable like this situation, arises. An answer to this cipher of a president. But they never do-all the while that he’s pointing the finger at them, they just stand there with their fingers in their mouths going “duuuhhhh”. O course, having an enemedia doesn’t help, but they don’t even try to make their case. If anything, they suck up to the media, as if they’re being blackmailed. Hmmmm...
Yeah, even though Hussein does it every single last time (blame the Republicans for his own failures), they act as if they never saw it coming when he does again.
They won’t do it like that. They’ll squeal about the “evil rich” (anyone who earns their own way and pays taxes) and how they’re going to make sure that the downtrodden (parasites) get their cut. A majority of the voters now just want their “gibmes” at someone else’s expense.
You know what the Regime really fears? One day, they might try to threaten us by withholding one of their wonderful Federal "services", and we won't miss it. We might find out we don't need it. The same can be said for most of the Federal government.

Ditto, here. At least 1/3 of my freezers are filled w/venison. Plus, we have half of a quarter on order which will be butchered this coming Monday. The daughter of the farmer has generously offered to store it for me until I have room. I expect half to be delivered in the middle of March and I will pick up the rest later on.
Most of the people I know are also stocked for the duration.

No worries. Meat packers can carry on as usual. There won’t be anyone to enforce the laws either. Plus, Obama already selectively enforces laws. Wonder how many illegal immigrants work in these meat packing plants.
