BIG BEAR LAKE, Calif. All that was left were footprints leading away from Christopher Dorner's burned-out pickup truck, and an enormous, snow-covered mountain where he could be hiding among the skiers, hundreds of cabins and dense woods.
More than 100 officers, including SWAT teams, were driven in glass-enclosed snow machines and armored personnel carriers to hunt for the former Los Angeles police officer suspected of going on a deadly rampage to get back at those he blamed for ending his police career.

Well, he would show up in stark contrast if he were an overweight black NAKED guy in the snow....
When I dress up for freezing weather, there is not a whole heck of a lot of skin showing: Sometimes I dress up like the Michelin Man (with 47 layers of clothes) and you can’t even tell I am a girl, let alone what color....
But I agree with you - He probably isn’t settling permanently there.
They’re going to kill him on-sight; he’s got too much to tell about the internal corruption and crime in LAPD.
He’s gone from Black Bear, waiting with an ambush at a new place of his choosing.
Las Vegas Ron is correct:
“this guy is a a seasoned vet, obama is going to use this to further his marxist agenda (returning Vets are dangerous)...”
Drone strikes would start the very first week.
I suspect he is not within a hundred miles of there right now. He likely put a motorcycle in his truck, and dropped it off a distance away from where he burned the truck, hoofed over to it, and rode away. If he really did a good job, the fire was set with a simple timing device when he was already a goodly distance away.
His best bet is actually to go back to Los Angeles, find a nice foreclosed home among a lot of other foreclosed homes, and set up a low profile squat, only going out at night.
From that he could choose to lay low, or go hunting.
A much bigger problem that might come about right now is when criminals realize that now is a great time to get revenge on the LAPD, by assassination, figuring he will get blamed for it.
It would benefit them both, and since he is a “kill on sight” target right now, as soon as he is nailed, who’s to say he didn’t do it?
They’re load ordnance, Google Geo-Typo Maps, infrared and more, to make sure they *get him* before he disappears for 2-3 days again. Kill some family dogs along the way, just to keep in practice.
Our laws, our Constitution, our Bill of Rights - only so much useless paper.
Who knows? Maybe he already has a foreclosed home already prepped out. A few months of non-perishable foodstuffs, ammo and weapons, and he’s good to go.
Dorner’s been planning this. For awhile. This isn’t just some Charles Whitman kind of scenario.
As many as he can. This is his S&D Op.
What makes Dorner so dangerous is that he’s willing to target the family members of those who’ve apparently earned his ire. For instance, the unfortunate young woman who was killed on Sunday. The daughter of a police captain.
And heaven help anyone, especially a cop, who gets in his way. He’ll blow them away without a moment’s hesitation.
Safest for him to stay in CA. The gun control laws get much weaker the further he gets from home... NV, AZ, TX. Best for him to stay where he is the only one carrying concealed weapons.
DC Shooter/Sniper ‘MO’ comes to mind, until they catch him. SWAT AR-10/.308, suppressor, Leupold Glass and 500 rounds would keep him busy terrifying the area.
Oh that’s not new my good man. They are the first from the 40 LAPD officers explicitly named on his list.
Yes. Susan Rice will be on Meet The Press on Sunday blaming its director, who will be seen in split-screen being led away in handcuffs.
I hope some citizen catches him moving and caps him with an ‘06.
It’s been rumored he may also have a .50 caliber sniper rifle as well as a MANPADS. Again, that’s straight-up rumor, which isn’t surprising given the situation. But damn, if he’s got that, L.A. is gonna be an interesting town! The cops are gonna be even more hair-trigger and jumpy.
