The big clue is the canopy ‘glass’.....
It’s still pretty neat, I doubt they built it from a kit.
Hell of an accomplishment, since model building is likely forbidden by the Mullahs.
Definitely first-prize material at the junior high science fair.
Another observation - that design might make a better boat design than aircraft!
I’ve seen Russian planes on disused ramps and runways that are so overgrown with weeds and crap, that they don’t even bother with “inlet protection”...they make their engines to eat FOD....
LIES! You infidels will be sorry when this marvel of technology sweeps the skies clear over every RC field in the land of the Great Satan.
It may be a “build up” from a Rotax 503.
[See post 46, same body shapes.]
Much like their “flying stealth boats” from a few years back, it’s not even a good fake.
Fifth grade teachers would love their diarama.
The canopy brace is used to prevent accidental closure of the canopy. Canopies are extremely heavy. It also protects the exposed portion of the actuator.
I think this is a mock-up hence the brace.
I had the chance to work with Russian aviation and I was impressed with their technology. It was crude but made a lot of sense. Their aircraft does not need all the support as ours.
Those fighters you mentioned can close their main intakes during taxi and suck air thru the aux doors on the top. No FOD ingestion. You won’t dare do that with a F-16.
That, my FRiend, is a Weapon of Mass Revulsion.
It worked like a charm on me ... I'm totally intimidated!
There is an old Russian saying that goes something like “innovation is the enemy of good enough”
......
I’ve been around a lot of Russian stuff too, and I’ve always been impressed with the practicality of their implementations. That said, there is also a lot of truly elegant implementation of common scientifc principle and practicality that I admired.
Looks like an old 5 inch floppy drive plugged into the the top of the instrument panel too.
I am rather unskilled at fiberglass and other types of body work, but If something like that were the result of my hands, I would be ashamed.
Remind me to never have an Iranian body shop do work for me...
OK, I give up. How did I miss the “Revell” sticker??
Hahahaha! Sheesh...you know, I went to school with Iranians back in the 70’s when I was in the Navy, and I liked them. They were smart, had good sense of humor...not what we see now. I often wonder what happened to those guys.
Did they go through hell for being exposed to the West, or something like that? People who run that country should be put down.
Hahahahaha! For some reason, Achmed the Dead Terrorist flashed into my mind...:)
“But for what kind of engines? A Cox .049?”
Shop-Vac
Priceless...I started hunting around to post it and got sidetracked...thanks!
Thanks Zakeet. The phrase “s###-eating grin” is a euphemism, until one sees this photo of Ahmedeadman.
