It is my deeply held belief that the only thing that will pull our beloved country back from the brink is the sight of a few elected officials hanging from lamp posts. Sad to say, but spewing rhetoric about “from my cold dead hands” is just so much hot air. Were a few of the most egregious offenders against the U S Constitution to be lynched during their town hall meetings in their districts, the renewed “fear of the Lord God Jehovah and the Continental Congress” might have a salutary effect on their surviving colleagues voting patterns.
Darn, now I’m back on that list for speaking my mind.
You remind me of the HL Mencken essay “The Malevolent Jobholder,” wherein he advises a system whereby citizen be allowed to kill government officials so long as they can show cause before a jury afterwards. It was well dramatized in the libertarian sci-fi classic “Lone Star Planet.” I see it as a useful suggestion.
