WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama says the Boy Scouts of America should open its membership to gays and lesbians when its national executive board discusses the issue this week.
Obama praised the scouts as “a great institution” that promotes young people, giving them lifelong leadership training and opportunities. During a pre-Super Bowl interview on CBS, he said “no one should be barred from that.”
The Boy Scouts announced last week it was considering replacing its longstanding ban on gays with a policy to let troop sponsors make their own decision on the issue.

It is not his job to make pronouncements on policy for a private organization.
Unfortunately, I feel the BSA will fold and that will be the end of a once-great institution.

Maybe Boy Scout culture will result in a few gay scout leaders getting the s*** beat out of them. Blanket parties inside a pup tent are an excellent way of insuring anonymity. Just add several enraged fathers & stir.

I’m resurrecting my Aurora HO slot racing set that I got over two christmases in 1964 and 1966 for my grandson. There was an amazing track layout that I just HAD to have back in the day in a Boy’s Life magazine. I found out that the entire run of magazine has been rendered in high def and I was able to find the exact article from 1966.
Man I love the internet.
BTW, there were lots of ads for guns in those old Boy’s Life magazines.

Knowing him he probably wants them in as well. What gets me is last time I checked, the Boy scouts are a private organization, and once again here is the government demanding how a private organization conducts business which is flat out tyranny. I mean why not demand the Hells Angels be allowed to join the Girl scouts? Or Sumo wrestlers be allowed to join the Joffrey Ballet?
They have a club for gay males, it’s called the Girl Scouts, I hear they are already hip and cool, you know, progressive.

Look Obama, the reason that the BSA is such a good program is that it does not allow perversion into the program. It teaches morals and hold people responsible for their conduct.
The oportunity of the Boy Scouts is to live a selfless moral life. Gays like all people have that opportunity, however they chose to be sexualy focused instead.
No Homosexual wants to be a boy scout, they just want a boy scout.
So, gay men in the Scouts isn't enough; we also have to have gay women in the BOY Scouts? I sure am glad we have the "smartest guy in the room" as our President, aren't you?

You’re talking to a brick wall. Obama does not consider homosexuality to be a perversion.
Teach your kids outdoor survival skills yourself. Instead of signing them up with Scouts, sign them up with one of the deadlier no-nonsense martial art schools, I’d look long and far for a teacher of Hark Fu Moon, Fu Jow Pai, Pak Mei or similar family if it were up to me, the way this country’s headed I’d want my boy or girl prepared not just physically but mentally for the sickos and psychos of the future.
People currently involved in the BSA can now simply form autonomous scouting organizations, without the sodomites, and can later link up under other arrangements.
Simply leave the BSA and form, say, a TAS, "Traditional American Scouting," or something like that. Keep local troops entirely autonomous, and allow them to link up as they have the need to do so for specific events and projects.
NEVER link them under the authority of one national headquarters, so that if the top goes perverted, they have no legal sway over any local autonomous troop.
For a while, the BSA merit badge system can be accepted in that boys transferring from a BSA troop to a "TAS" troop, say, will have his BSA merit badge accomplishments and record transferred as well. Of course, the actual BSA badges likely cannot be used because they are copyrighted, I'm sure. Simply created new corresponding badges for a "TAS."
LEAVE the BSA, and let the perverts have it all by themselves, and carefully document what happens to it as a result, and show it to the world.
Keep the traditional concept of scouting alive by forming new autonomous Scouting units---Keep a non-sodomite set of rules and procedures. New Scouting handbook ; new uniforms ; newly-designed merit badges ; go camping, have jamborees, etc., etc.
