Super Bowl XLVII, February 3rd, 2013 New Orleans Mercedes Benz Dome, CBS-TV, Westwood One radio, 630pm EST
Baltimore Ravens v San Francisco 49ers (-4.5, O/U 47.5)
I can’t believe they didn’t run on second (or third) down at the Ravens’ four yard line. I think Kaepernick could have walked in - the Ravens’ defense was completely off balance against the run in the second half.
Well, the upside to the loss is that we will no longer have to see the murderer’s face or hear his voice ever again.
Don’t most smart phones use RISC based chips? ARM I think are RISC and they power a lot of smart phones.
Congrats to the Baltimore Ravens for winning this year’s American Gay Rugby Championship.
I’m picking Baltimore to win.
Nothing matters and then you die.
Jim Harbaugh’s got to mature into a more cool thinker and focus on his team’s strengths and not the hype. The hype this year was Kapenrnick (however you spell his name). I was all for him. But his passing game was not the strength of SF’s offense - it was the run. Harbaugh should have known that.

Because that wouldn’t help. You’d give them half the distance and another shot. Eventually they might score.
This trick only works when you are the offense, trying to run out the clock. If you can afford a 10-yard holding penalty, you can trade that 10 yards for the extra 5-10 seconds you get off the clock.
And in this case, it was a 4th-down play where they were giving up a safety anyway. A holding penalty would have resulted in a safety, which is what they were getting anyway. So by holding, they just allowed more seconds to run off the clock.
(I’d have to check the rule book to see if, because it was a safety anyway, the defensive team had the choice of taking the penalty on the ensuing kickoff, but even that would just mean 10 yards on a kick).
And they’re discussing Frank Gore’s junk over here:

I was wrong, glad Ravens won.
Hasn't taken off? IBM's POWER architecture pretty much rules the IT world.
SF used to be my favorite destination in my youth. But the city has been destroyed. I wanted both teams to lose today, but I wanted SF to lose more.
Yeah, wouldn’t this be great? Name a United States warship after Harvey Milk - http://www.sfgate.com/bayarea/nevius/article/USS-Harvey-Milk-would-be-a-fitting-tribute-3563775.php
They called the entire game loosely when it came to holding, pass interference, etc. I’m glad they let them play.
I really don’t care much for San Francisco, but Cincinnati’s my home town, so it’s personal. Baltimore is in our division, and the AFC central has been dominant the last five years with a SB victory every other year.

With 12 seconds left and clinging to a 34-29 lead, Baltimore Ravens Coach John Harbaugh elected to take a safety on fourth down deep in his territory instead of punting the ball. The move paid off as Ravens punter Sam Koch was able to run the clock down to four seconds.
Koch then boomed a 61-yard punt on the free kick from the 20 to the San Francisco 49ers 19.
COMMENT: Stupid reporter. Since the punt is measured from the line of scrimmage and he was close to the line of scrimmage when he booted it, 61 yards is not necessarily booming. When the punter kicks a 46-yarder under pressure, he is at least 15 yards back and those yards don’t count.
You are right, of course, about ARM.
I haven't been on the hardware side of things for awhile, so thanks for keeping me honest.
And YES, Joe Flacco Super Bowl 47 MVP IS elite. One win away from being tied (with Peyton Manning) at 2nd most post season QB wins in NFL history, gunning for #1 Brady. And he's younger than both, only in his 5th season.
Way to go Ravens!!!!
“Brilliant play on the safety.”
Coach Johnny just out-coached that angry, miserable little whiner Coach Jimmy!!

The safety is taking advantage of the rules. I’m surprised the 49ers were taken offguard by that and wasted seconds before they decided to tackle the kicker.
The thing that surprised me is that the Ravens are old guys and when both were fresh, they kicked the 49ers around.
And then at the end when they had to stand, they did.
Ravens won this one with smart, fearless football. The 49ers tentative approach lost it for them. I would give the MVP award to the Baltimore Defense.
