WASHINGTON President Obama has taken on N.B.A. stars on the White House basketball court, golfed at the air base that houses Air Force One and even tried to polish his legendarily woeful bowling at the presidential lanes.
But now it turns out that he has picked up a new hobby: skeet shooting at Camp David.
At least that is the way he tells it. In an interview published last week, Mr. Obama said that he and his guests shot clay pigeons all the time at the retreat in the Maryland mountains, a revelation that surprised many and drew a fair bit of skepticism. And then on Saturday, the White House released a photo of Mr. Obama skeet shooting at Camp David in August.
The notion of the president taking aim at targets flung into the air captivated some in the political and social media worlds at a time when he is pushing Congress to enact sweeping restrictions on assault rifles and high-capacity magazines. Conservatives scoffed, comics mocked, a congresswoman challenged him to a skeet-shooting contest, a fake picture of an armed Mr. Obama circulated on the Internet, and the White House tried to make the whole matter go away.
It was a surprise to a lot of people in the industry when we saw that and heard that, said Michael Hampton Jr., the executive director of the National Skeet Shooting Association, whose 35,000-member rolls do not include the president. But officially we have no idea whether he does participate or not. Only him or his people would know that.
Mr. Obama is hardly the first politician to draw scorn for boasting of experience with guns...

Looks like that skeet is hovering midair for him. I wish I could get a sporting clay to do that. :-)
Nice!
Can you make the gas comes out his back-side?
He’s trying to shoot the clay before it leaves the launcher. Much easier to hit before they start flying!
Side note - does his gun have a pressure relief valve on the side of the barrel?
If you don’t hit them on the way up you can try to hit them on the way down. However it doesn’t work well that way, Best to hit them on the way upor at their peak of rise.
“Something seems wrong about the way he is holding this rife. Doesn’t it seem to be too high against his shoulder? The recoil from a shot would be absorbed into the top of the shoulder bone rather than the meat of the pectoral muscle. Just doesn’t look like someone that is a shooter.”
Exactly what I thought. The more I look at it the more I think he’s shooting a low load blank. Virtually no recoil evident in the way he’s holding the gun. Any real load would have knocked the gun out of his delicate hands.
Didn’t someone report having seen him show up nervously for some skeet event there, suffer through a nervous five minutes of it, and leave?
Someone can grab the metadata from the photo and pull a date when this was taken?
Hunting skeets with a shotgun is pretty hard, but hunting them with a rifle? Holy Gladiola!!! This guy is good. Sarc/snark
What is he shooting skeet with black powder? That is a awful lot of smoke for a light target load. Plus if you zoom in on the pic why are only the right hand ports blowing smoke and not the left hand ports? Absolutely faked, heck he even seems to have his weight shifted back. This stance would be bad news if he was shooting anything over a 410.

Couldn't find any in photoshop. At least not in this version of the picture. I suspect that the data was scrubbed to avoid being seen. It's hard to fake a picture from August, 2012 when the data says, for example, January, 2013. :)
Also, there has to be video to go along with this right?
Can anyone tell if the image of Obama is photoshopped on to the background?
Correct stance and aim
.
.
Photo op stance of someone who has never shot a single clay pigeon.
1) Looks like he has never fired a shotgun before; he's clearly uncomfortable.
2)Target is very low ...
Well, he's shooting at the clay target before it leaves the trap. It increases his chances of actually hitting something.
It only shows a modify date, which is today (Feb. 2, 2013).
