All I can remember from school is that Carver found hundreds of uses for nuts.

And we're going to hear this kind of stuff Ad nauseam for the next month as Black History Month descends upon the land. Why not set aside the entire school year to teach actual American History each and every month?

By the way, that's among the reasons why I seek to find out if George Washington Carver was a homosexual. If it turns out that he was and is celebrated throughout February as a hero, it's another reason why Black History Month is a complete fraud.

IIRC, he invented peanut butter, and refused to make money off a patent. He saw it as a cheap source of protein for poor people. For some, that alone makes him a bit of a ‘hero’. His botanical work was outstanding, and I had a great great aunt who exchanged cuttings and corresponded with him. He earned his position in history, regardless of the month, and unlike many of the ‘celebrated’, imho.
