Some major American cities are dying, and the worst part is that these grievously ill patients often are refusing to take even the mildest medicine that would make things better.
Take Detroit, a city that has become a synonym for urban failure. The murder rate of one per 1,719 people last year was more than eleven times the rate in New York City. One contributing factor may be that two-thirds of Detroits streetlights are broken.

Being a native Detroiter, (Denby Class of 1967), I must shed a tear for my hometown. When I was growing up, Belle Isle was a jewel of the city. It had a beautful yacht club, small zoo, a botantical garden, a matitime museum, an model yacht pond, pony riding, and a casino building that had a cafeteria that served a wonderful Sunday brunch. I spent many memorable Sunday afternoons with my family picnicing and sailing my model boats in the pond.
THe city was destroyed by complete Democratic control and BLACK race baiters who kept saying that the white and middle class blacks who fled the crime and high taxes for a better life North of 8 mile Road were the cause for the city’s demise. The truth is the poor blacks voted in a bloc for criminals the likes of Coleman Young and Kwame Kilpatrick (not an Irish drop of blood in him, by the way)
Snyder handed them a lifeline and they refused to take it. LET THE MF’s DROWN!
All that is a memory now.
i swear the urban black motto is “Being Black means never having to take the blame for your own failures.”
No, it wouldn’t pay to take the bricks because you’d have to be a union shop to work there and pay the prevailing union wage even if you used minimum wage employees. By the time you paid off the local unions, the bricks would cost more than steak!
You are SOOO right. Four of those houes are just drop dead beautiful. I would give my right arm to move in and fix up. Course, I’d ending up giving my right arm, left arm, and brain after some thug put a cap in me. Oh well.
Floats all the way to the top. Obama uses that rule all the time.
I love the media as it is totally devoted to the fallacy of non causa pro causa; i.e. mere economics. Everyone knows the cause but are unable to publically state it.
It’s only safe to drive in Detroit now, if you’re driving a fully combat loaded M-1A1 Abrams tank.
“good families want good churches....good schools...nice parks...clean streets...”
And they will gladly pay through the nose for it. That’s suburbia. And they are paying the police to run the riff-raff from Detroit out of their neighborhoods. By and large, the suburbanites tolerate the suburban police state because they see it as a necessary evil.
Of course, this is not 0bama’s vision for America, because these suburbanites vote Republican. 0bama’s “fundamental transformation” of America is to drive these people out of the affluent suburbs and into the hell-holes of the inner cities, where they can be good dependent little drones who will reliably vote democrat. I have just described 0bama’s idea of “middle class.”
All of his statements and policies are consistent with this program.
There's lots of elderly retirees living there who I'm sure would like to. Unfortunately their houses are worthless and can't be sold, and they're on fixed incomes and can't afford to buy a home in the nearby communities....
The elites should fill those houses with the elites’ illegal alien slave workers.
.
I'm waiting or someone to get shot in the parking lot.
Post 6 had a title, but no picture, at least on my screen, but looking at the html for the page there should be one. Do you see a picture on Post 6?

I don’t see it on the page either. You can see it here: http://www.amren.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/DetroitStreet.jpg
Thanks!
