Sen. David Vitter on Wednesday called Florida Sen. Marco Rubio amazingly naïve and nuts on the issue of immigration and slammed the new bipartisan reform proposal as ridiculous.
The Louisiana Republican told The Laura Ingraham Show that the blueprint unveiled by a group of eight senators is a plan that mirrors the same old failed immigration reform of 1986. Rubios belief that enforcement mechanisms will work this time around is just amazingly naïve, Vitter said.
I love and respect Marco. I think hes just amazingly naïve on this issue, Vitter said. This is the same old formula that weve dealt with before, including when it passed in 1986, and that is promises of enforcement and immediate amnesty. And of course, the promises of enforcement never materialize. The amnesty happens immediately the millisecond the bill is signed into law, and the same is true here. No, they wont be citizens immediately. They will be legal.
Citizenship is guaranteed at that point as a practical matter, he added.
Vitter said that if the Florida Republican doesnt think legal status offers a pathway to citizenship, hes nuts.

I agree. I do not see why Republicans are supporting a plan that puts eleven million to as many as forty million new Democrats on the voter registration rolls by 2016.
If these fools actually granted amenity to these crooks, HOW THE HELL WILL THEY KNOW WHO WAS HERE WHEN THEY DID IT????
What is to stop 14 million people from flooding into the U.S. over the next 6 months and saying that they were here all along? If I lived in Turkey, I could just hop a plane and get lost in NYC for a few weeks and BOOM, I get amenity!
Sen Vitter is absolutely right. And what a relief it is to know Rubio and the gang won’t get a completely free ride on this.
These people are never going to leave.
Sooner or later, they will be voting and its better they vote for us.
Rubio is right and here we go again tearing each other apart.
You are right.. I’m afraid your post will fall on deaf ears..
The vast majority of Hispanics believe in Big Government and social programs - they are democrats. Polls after polls show that as well as they stating that they won’t change their political beliefs if Republicans pass amnesty. Fools and foolish!!!! Utterly dumb if you grant amnesty
Therein lies the problem with LYING Democrats and stupid Republicans who fall for their mendacity time-after-time, like Charlie Brown trying to kick the football that Lucy yanks away from him at the last-second.
Frankly I'm sick of both parties, as it seems like there's nothing that can be believed coming out of either.
Get it, GOP? We won't fall for your BS anymore, either. You've had your chance and you blew it.
That stated, I don't hold this against Rubio. I do like a few individual GOP senators and Reps, and believe that they have definable values. Unfortunately, there's not enough of 'em to make a difference. Not yet sure if Rubio is in this group, but I do have some hope for him.
They'll need them to make up lost votes like mine.
The dems are willing to raise your taxes to buy their vote and get them voting dem.
How much more would you want your taxes to go up to buy their vote get them to stop voting dem and vote repub?
I like Rubio and think his intentions are good, but he's wrong here. Hispanics aren't going to like us (conservatives/Republicans) better because we are for a "path to citizenship" for illegals. There is absolutely no evidence to show that agreeing with the Democrats on this issue helps us. Reagan did an amnesty and it didn't help Bush in 88'. McCain was well known for supporting "comprehensive immigration reform" and it didn't help him in 08'.
If we amnesty these illegals it is simply going to add millions of Democrats to the voter rolls. These Hispanics (mostly Mexicans) are natural Democrat voters. Mexico is a socialist craphole and the people there mostly keep voting for the same collectivist parties and politicians. When they become American citizens they retain the same voting patterns.
There is no doubt that conservatives must find a way to reach minority voters with our message, but there is no reason to believe being for amnesty will help us - and lots of reasons to believe we'd be seriously damaging our electoral prospects in the future.
The gang of 8 would have us introduce 10-20 million new voters into the electorate from third world countries. Isn’t it more likely they will vote for a Hugo Chavez rather than a Marco Rubio?
Why take a chance? Deport.

I’m sure they won’t miss cranks like you..
Some sort of amnesty is in order for those who grew up here as Children (and graduated from HS here) because demonizing them is a sure loser, and not even morally justified.
But giving them the vote is another matter.
Rubio is not Naive, nor are the other 3 traitors.
They know it won’t work to stop further illegal immigration.
They just plain do not give a damn.
The playing innocent ploy only fools the fools.
it’s falling on deaf ears because millions were given amnesty in 86 by President Reagan but they dont vote GOP, these immigrants are low income and want free stuff from Democrats That’s a fact... maybe 30-40% will vote GOP
go spend a week at the WIC office in El Paso, and come back and tell me that you’re ever going to get “these people” to vote for “us” ...that’s a fantasy
