Sen. David Vitter on Wednesday called Florida Sen. Marco Rubio amazingly naïve and nuts on the issue of immigration and slammed the new bipartisan reform proposal as ridiculous.
The Louisiana Republican told The Laura Ingraham Show that the blueprint unveiled by a group of eight senators is a plan that mirrors the same old failed immigration reform of 1986. Rubios belief that enforcement mechanisms will work this time around is just amazingly naïve, Vitter said.
I love and respect Marco. I think hes just amazingly naïve on this issue, Vitter said. This is the same old formula that weve dealt with before, including when it passed in 1986, and that is promises of enforcement and immediate amnesty. And of course, the promises of enforcement never materialize. The amnesty happens immediately the millisecond the bill is signed into law, and the same is true here. No, they wont be citizens immediately. They will be legal.
Citizenship is guaranteed at that point as a practical matter, he added.
Vitter said that if the Florida Republican doesnt think legal status offers a pathway to citizenship, hes nuts.

A Democrat hiding behing a FR name? Don’t agree with you and we’re A) cranks, B) racist, C) extremist, etc.
Next you’ll tell me all these illegals are “hiding in the shadows”.
We didn’t import them so we don’t have to deport them. Make it impossible for them to get jobs (crack down on illegal hiring - should be easy since the 1986 Amnesty bill created the I-9 form that, of course, works! /s)
As Obama destroys the economy, they leave on their own or don’t come.
And I hate to “brake” it to you, but “what if we deported the wrong people” is as weak an arguement as a Democrat would use. Who are these “wrong” people? Wouldn’t they be able to easily prove they are citizens if they aren’t the “right” people? Watching Cheech Marin movies again?
LOL, I thought the same. Twice he’s used the “what if we deport the wrong people” argument. What the heck is that?
Sounds like “oh, yeah, well you’re fat!”
Rubio is acting like Charlie Brown and this time Lucy won’t pull the football away.
I heard him on Rush yesterday...he SERIOUSLY believes we’ll get border enforcement first. How does he know? Chuckie Schumer said so!
What a tool.
Another thing that scares me with ALL of these politicians - they keep using the term immigration.
That’s not what we are discussing or trying to stop. We are talking about ILLEGAL immigration.
If an elected representative can’t bring themselves to differentiate between the two then they are idiots.
It’s not like we are executing them but that does give me an idea of how to encourage self-deportation.
They are merely visitors who don't have visas ~ they are not part of our immigration system.
You live in a complete fantasy world with that. The R party House immigration bill of 2006 called for making illegals felons and they got such grief for it that they tried to amend it out of the bill. So then the House Dems voted against the amendment to remove it so the entire bill died.
No POTUS will call for that assuming by some miracle the Rubio amnesty doesn't get passed into law. In fact after Romney I bet none would even call for ‘self deportation’.
Making humans who were brought here as kids then graduated HS here into criminals for WHO THEY ARE is akin to the Muslims in Iran sentencing women 50 lashes of a whip for being forcefully raped (as fornication).
I hope you are not part of that Republicans sect who believes that woman cant be forcefully raped against their will because their body shuts down if they don't want it(the Akin sect).
Because if the only alternative to liberalism is ‘criminalizing the victims’ that explains why Obama got re-elected and picked up seats in both Houses
Somehow i doubt you could be forcibly raped ~
http://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/broward/fort-lauderdale/fl-lauderdale-tax-fraud-conviction-20130129,0,3486742.story ~ exceedingly heavy penalties for white collar crime ARE COMMON. letting your visa expire is white collar crime. Why should that be punished less than cheating on taxes? We have a very serious penalty for placing the wrong number on a postage mailing statement ~ $10,000 and 10 years ~ you also missed the part where we ISSUE THE OFFENDERS A VISA. That makes their presence legal. Then we deal with them as white collar criminals ~ not just people who just happen to be in the wrong country standing around. Giving these people a taste of Obama’s REAL AMERICA!
Now you are changing your original argument which I would do if I were you too.
You were arguing that it is moral to mark those who were brought here as children and raised here and graduated from high school here as criminals FOR WHO THEY ARE similar to forcing Jews to wear Gold Stars in Germany for being born Jews.
By what demented reasoning are they like tax evaders?
Have you no human decency man?
If you treated your dog like you demand they treat these victims you would be arrested.
They are not WWII Jewish refugees looking for a country.
Note, regarding dogs, I consider them livestock. Accordingly I prize them above thieves and those thieve’s enablers.
How the hell is someone who was brought here at 5 yrso and is now 21 yrso and graduated from HS here going to pack up and move to Mexico as you demand?
That is completely ridiculous. They have no memories from that young age.
Maybe you just hate Hispanics for rejecting Romney and so you want them all deported in spite but it will never happen.
Those brought here at 5 yrso and graduated from HS here are thieves for being born in the wrong place then bought here as young kids?
While you are compiling your ‘never going to happen’ wish list how about deporting all non-whites too? Romney would have won in that case.
Hmmm, Mexicans are white.
How are they going to move? Hop in their pickups and go. Simple as that.
:)
Pickups LOL
Hope you don’t imagine I was a Romney backer ~ I was the guy holding out to the beider ende for him to BACK OUT and let us run somebody who could win.
