I expect to be one of those furloughed for 22 days over the next 22 weeks. Will tighten things up, but will also allow me to "test" what retirement will feel like as I spend the day with my wife who will retire soon...It will be interesting to see how this works - our area is pretty much a mad house each day and I have been working (voluntarily) about 12 extra hours a week to make ends meet. Won't do that any more, so things are likely to start eroding.
Makes me feel bad for the military who will be asked to take up the slack - our area is about 60/40 military/civilian and there's lots going on - bound to destroy the last vestiges of morale. Since we've been undermanned to boot, we will be braking a number of rules about how many instructors are available - going to be paperwork nightmare for the commander to sign all the individual waivers.

Perhaps, but there is not really enough time. Hopefully you will learn that you can get out of the rut and do whatever you want.
The problem becomes what do I want to do?
