Former Secretary of State Colin Powell says the Republican Party should abandon its efforts to curb voter participation through voter ID laws.
Should we really have gone after reducing the turnout of voters in those places where we thought it would make a difference? he told MSNBCs Morning Joe program, referring to Novembers election.
You have to appeal with policies and programs to these people who are going to be the leaders of our country in a generation, Powell says.

“the only people voting without a proper ID would not be lawful voters.”
colon knows this. The bottom line is - the “complexion” of things.
By all means lets do what this GOP bashing phony A-hole says we should do.
Powell should back off attempts to say something intelligent.
I had tremendous respect for him circa 1996...
It has deteriorated severely. I respect his service, but he is pretty wack now.
Colin, you ignorant slut.
More proof that Colin was never anything more than an affirmative action general. What a clown, moron, and idiot.
The GOP should stop pretending that Powell is or ever was a republican.
What is he talking about?
Obama and Holder were the ones suing Ohio, Florida, and any other state that sought to make sure their voter rolls only had valid voters or had a process in place to honor their military voters!
So when did preserving the integrity of the vote become voter suppression?
Powell needs to do some serious soul searching.
Ha! Good pic.
Brother Colin Powell is a paid actor. Another reason to not get suckered in by some bozo in a uniform with a bunch of bling on the shoulder. He works for the opposition and always has. With establishment GOP complicit blessings.
Publius911: Powell should back off continuing the racist, unsupported, absurd assertion that the rap/dragging pants generation, and/or illiterate illegal aliens are our future leaders
It’s race before honor for some scumbags like Powell for instance.
Interesting interview on O’Reilly tonight.
I’m generally disappointed with Powell. I think his passion exceeds his ability to reason.
