Sen. John McCain supports allowing women in combat, but says it remains critical for the military to uphold the same high standards that made it the strongest in the world.
On Wednesday, outgoing Defense Secretary Leon Panetta announced that women will be permitted in combat, potentially opening hundreds of thousands of front-line positions and elite Special Forces jobs to women as well as men.
I respect and support Secretary Panettas decision to lift the ban on women serving in combat, McCain said. The fact is that American women are already serving in harms way today all over the world and in every branch of our armed forces. Many have made the ultimate sacrifice, and our nation owes them a deep debt of gratitude.

their reasoning:”women end up sometimes in combat roles anyway...”(ABC radio news quote)
and people end up in fires some times, so let’s tell everone they’re fire fighters!
“not everyone can be a combat soldier, but everyone should have the chance”. (Panetta)
I guess Congress will need to involve us in even more foreign entanglements so EVERYONE gets their chance!

Hundreds of thousands of women wont volunteer to go. Youll have to Draft them.
Damned right!
Women should have to be required to sign up for the Draft just as I and millions of other men had towhen they turned 18.
Equality.
It is a b@tch!!

All I keep thinking of is divisions of American women facing off against Panzer divisions, The Waffen SS and the Japanese Sendai division. Its just the first thing that comes to mind for some reason.
And think of the way the Waffen SS treated females(enlisted or civilian) when they fell into their hands.
Just another war asset to be destroyed.

The Marine Corps is the only branch of the service that still separates men and women during basic training. The reason being is that the Corps will not lower the standards for the men just so the women can keep up.

How about the “standards” that were in place 40 years ago?
Before there were watered down for women, the first time!
And, how about making ALL women eligible for combat, and NOT at THEIR CHOICE!?!?!?!

No they should not.
Don't misunderstand me when I said they Shaula be drafted.
Drafting women into the army is the last thing I want but if these radical feminist get their way than that will open up all women for the draft.
Can't pick and chose the rights without getting the duties of being fully combat able.
Equally means equally.

McCain Backs Women in CombatAs Long as Standards Stay High The standard for combat always stays high. "May the best man win."
The next 'man' we fight may not be cave dwelling throwbacks, but trained divisions of infantry and armor, backed by a fleet of mass produced, missile-armed drones.
They won't be impressed by how egalitarian our military is. Not one bit.

[ Sometimes I think one of the biggest problems this country faces is the stupidity that comes from long-term success. ....
A good cure for that is getting your a$$ handed to you in a big way.
I'm afraid you're on to something.
As in nature, economics or in the Bible, when the people strayed from their principles, they got in trouble, whether from nature, bankruptcy or from the Wraith of God, they were brought back in line.
The economic breakdown/correction is coming.
It's on;y a matter of when and how bad...

That's what FUBAR basically means but I've gotten a few of my recent posts eliminated b/c of language so I went the safe roue....;-)
