what he meant to say is that blacks are over represented in govt by a long shot because of affirmative auction....
if the USPS is losing money, they must streamline even more, and that means fewer jobs....
as always, its not so much the pay as it is the benefits and the pensions....
gee....if pensions weren't so high, maybe they could keep more actual workers on...

Why do I see another “bailout” coming, courtesy (of course) of private sector taxpayers who don’t get half the retirement bennies that government workers get?

Muawiyah, an ex-postie, had some really good ideas. If I recall correctly, the changes are quite simple -- two stand out in my mind:
- the USPS is nominally supposed to pay for itself, but increases in prices must be agreed by Congress, so getting rid of this is a step
- Saturday post to be stopped

Must add in the caveat -- I, personally, don't know anything about the way the postal service works, so can't contribute personally to this discussion except by pinging a person (muawiyah) who does know, a lot

If you meant the word - brilliant!
It's a shift of the government's handling of certain sectors of society, still in plantation control mode- but portrayed as 'fair'

The USPS pension accounts are filled to the top unlike most public and private pensions in this country. Part of it is probably because their black employees have shorter lifespans than the white employees. They draw their pensions for fewer years.
