Trent Cole jilts Pa. expo over 'sporting rifle' ban

Eagles defensive end Trent Cole, a major hunting enthusiast, is snubbing a Pennsylvania sports expo because it has banned sales of certain rifles variously described as "modern sporting rifles," "tactical rifles" or "assault weapons."

Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show, scheduled for Feb. 2 to 10 in Harrisburg, bills itself as "THE Sportsman Show," and was expected to draw about 200,000 visitors and feature 1,200 exhibitors.

Many sportsmen, however, seem to be upset that the show's organizers have failed to fully support the constitutional right to bear arms.

"Hordes of hunting industry manufacturers and TV personalities are thumbing their noses at one of the country's largest sports show promoters because the event is taking a hard stance on, among other things, modern sporting rifles," according to deeranddeerhunting.com.

The National Rifle Association has called on the organizers to reverse the decision, and Cabela's, a major hunting and fishing retailer, has withdrawn its sponsorship, according to the Associated Press.

Cole, who identifies himself in his Twitter profile as "Professional football player, host of an Outdoor show called Blitz TV," posted several tweets Sunday, including "Urgent announcement: Trent Cole and Blitz TV will not attend the 2013 Eastern Sports Show in Harrisburg, PA." and "Unfortunately, we will not support the recent decisions made by Eastern Sports Show management."

I support that old saying, “Put your money where your mouth is”. I stand in support of those that feel that the people running this particular gun show are fools, idiots, schvarzes, in their choice to not have “sporting rifles”, because it may be too uncomfortable to them. Could it be that the runners of the show put their mouths and money on our self-crowned “king”?

Reed Exhibitions is headquartered in Richmond, Surrey, UK, and they are a subsidiary of Reed Elsevier, which is headquartered in London and Amsterdamned.

So these guys are Euroweenies, likely imagining the protests they would get if they were putting on a show in some leftist-run vassal administrative district of Brussels, like England.

Instead, they will be hosting a handful of yard-sale hopefuls, who expect that any retailers there will have to drastically slash their prices because there are so few buyers.

I think the best thing that could happen now is for somebody to rally PETA to protest outside, not against guns, as such, but against hunting and fishing.

Such verb commonly ascribes devious motives to the 'jilter' in bailing on a commitment for no apparent reason other than cowardice or general lack of character.

By failing to report that said celeb will not be attending to due to a principled stand against the anti-Constitution stance of the show's sponsor, philthy.com blatantly dons the kneepads and goes down for yet another blØw job.

The promoter cannot keep up with the vendors that are boycotting the show.

I’m going to make a wild guess that those running the “Expo” are going to refund 100% of the booth fees of everyone who pulls out of the show, and possibly be forced to provide partial refunds to those who do remain.
Actual unrefundable collateral “damages” incurred by those who pulled out will eventually be handled by lawyers.
I’d love to read the vendor contract.
