In comments made Friday, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said the National Rifle Association (NRA) is a "fringe group" that is "very extreme."
Moreover, according to Schumer, the NRA doesn't "represent average gun [owners]."
Schumer says that during the 1990s the NRA used their lobbying power to fill background checks with loopholes, thus leading to a situation where "40 percent of all guns sold in American have no [background] check."
You'll recall that Obama also used this "40 percent" claim when pushing for more gun control earlier in the week. This claim goes back to a 2011 study by Mayor Michael Bloomberg, where secondary, private guns were lumped in with new guns sales in an attempt to justify saying guns were entering the marketplace with no background checks whatsoever.

I highly doubt this 40%. Any gun store you buy from does background checks. In some cases federal AND state.
Has he looked at www.ruger.com? Ruger set up in their website the means for gunowners to enter their address info and zip code that automatically send a pro 2A and no more new regulation email to every official (local, state, Congress and POTUS). It has been up little over 2 weeks. If you have not done it, recommend you do it ASAP. Please do not repeat, let the numbers shown be as accurate and honest as possible. NY do not give up, enter it also letting your Dem reps in rural areas know they kicked up a hornets nest. I think it has about 620,000 emails and climbing as I type. Right now politicians are in the voter sentiment counting mode. More emails, more they hesitate, because many Dems remember the last AWB and what it cost them. Here is another demographic hope, about 60 percent of young people say if they settle down, they plan to buy a firearm. Despite public school education, that scares the libs even more. NRA has the same survey, start marketing to young people and more women.

I don’t think a day goes by where Schumer does not call someone on the right “Very Extreme”. Seriously. Repeat the lie enough and people will believe it.
