Nearly six in 10 Americans want stricter gun laws in the aftermath of last month's deadly school shooting in Connecticut, with majorities favoring a nationwide ban on military-style, rapid-fire weapons and limits on gun violence depicted in video games, movies and TV shows, according to a new Associated Press-GfK poll.
A lopsided 84 percent of adults would like to see the establishment of a federal standard for background checks for people buying guns at gun shows, the poll showed.
Three-quarters of Americans said they reacted to the Connecticut massacre with deep anger, while 54 percent said they felt deeply ashamed it could happen in the United States.
President Barack Obama was set Wednesday to unveil a wide-ranging package of steps for reducing gun violence, expected to include a proposed ban on assault weapons, limits on the capacity of ammunition magazines and universal background checks for gun sales.

LOL...if the polling is that favorable, then they shouldn’t have ANY TROUBLE AT ALL getting a ban through Congress.

The difference is that, while most people might agree that the soap used in dishwashers harm the environment (or at least did, back when the soap worked), it’s doubtful that most people would also agree to let the government come into their house and remove their dishwashers.
The "Debt Ceiling" is a PRIME example of Legislation passed that was to boost the Economy and/or "save billions", which were just handouts to constituencies of the Left (or Cronies), and we CANNOT PAY OUR BILLS without more borrowing.
All the parasites who have money from Taxpayers handed out for their votes have over-loaded our PRODUCTIVE people to the extent we dont' have enough Taxpayers compared to Non-Taxpayers, but they continue to force MORE handouts, and refuse to cut ANY Programs.

I did not know that..However, I have heard lots of times that only a fiercely committed 3% is needed to transform a nation.
Sen. bill nelson, (former astronaut[?])a radical left wing extremist senator from FL, had a poll on his website the other day and the vote tally when I looked was a little over 1500 for the ban and over 350,000 against the ban. Shockingly uncle bill is.........supporting a ban on “assault weapons”. Sadly he has 6 more years.

How many of the 6 have any idea what the current gun laws actually are? How many know that an “assault weapon” is mainly just a scary looking rifle? How many know that if you elimated statistics on “urban youth crime” America is a pretty safe place?

The questions imply that they’re talking about select fire or full auto weapons. This is why you can’t trust the media, they push poll to get the result they want.

Unless I missed something, each ‘regular’ person cited in the story supports the gun-ban agenda. Could they not find one person who thinks ‘assault rifles’ shouldn’t be banned, or that magazines shouldn’t be limited to 10 rounds or less? Based on the poll results, it shouldn’t have been hard to do so.
Why am I not surprised? The media is generally biased as we all know, but they may be more biased on guns than just about anything else except immigration.
