President Barack Obama plans this week to present 19 separate executive orders on gun control and will press for comprehensive legislation to expand gun-purchase background checks, lawmakers made privy to the presidents agenda said Monday, according to the New York Times.
The biggest congressional fight on gun control in early 20 yearswhich also includes efforts to ban assault weapons and high-capacity clipscould be launched as soon as Wednesday, the Times reports.
But considering the presidents expected inability to get acceptance for his plan through Congress, Obama will not shy away from using executive orders for restrictions he deems necessary, according to the Times.
Those actions are expected to include limits on guns imported from overseas, pressure on federal agencies to improve sharing of mental health records, and directing the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to conduct research on gun violence, according to lawmakers informed of the presidents plans, the Times reports.

And the Congress will not shy away from impeaching him nor the military from overthrowing him.
Maybe people are just keeping their powder dry until they see what Obama actually puts out, but there had better be some forcible responses. At this point, except for one Congressman from Texas, I have not heard one peep from Republicans.
Republicans in NY appear to be agreeing to an unconstitutional anti-gun law. If Reince Prebuis has a prayer of EVER seeing any money from the rank-and-file the Republicans had better wake up and start acting like our representatives or they need to be primaried!
It won’t be the Republicans impeaching him. They don’t have the cajones to even speak ill of him for fear of being called racist. Face it. We now have a dictator and as long as he is able to steal from the productive to give to the scum, he will be able to stay in power. Welcome to the New America.
Carry on. Buy RGR stock. Buy guns. Buy ammo.
Never happen. The Tyrant in Chief is outta control. We The People have to stop this madness.
I like Ruger so much in addition to my 45LC Bisley Blackhawk and GP-100, I was lucky enough to order, and GET, two SR1911s....I’ve since added ambidextrous safeties from Novak (Ruguer Special), and the large laser etched eagle cocobolo grips.....a pair of very sweet 45s
I think this is an “end justifies the means” moment. I believe the end game is to bring us in line with the U.N. gun control treaty that failed to get through congress. We won’t know for sure until his 19 points come out but I would not be surprised if it is a mirror image to the U.N. Treaty.
It would sure be nice if someone in power in government asked “why in the ‘F’ does the NYT have an open line to the Community Organizer In Chief?”
Enough is enough. This tyrant has no regard for the Constitution or the balance of power. Remove this fool, dear neutered congresscritters, Dem and Pub alike. He respects NONE of you, your voices, or those of the majority of Americans. It’s WAY past time to stop the insanity.
The bastard hasn’t even been sworn in a 2nd time and he’s already going dictator on us.
You little sissy hand wringers need to get out more. You live in a bubble. There are things afoot.
Spray and pray technique being used here ironically. Put 19 EO’s on the table but only get 1 or 2 passed - mission accomplished. Surely some members of Congress have an IQ high enough to see through what’s being done here. I guess the question is - do any of them have the brains or tge balls to stop and question this deception.

Maybe you meant “forceful response” when you wrote “forcible response”??
I don’t know what DC Republicans will do, but it seems to me a number of states and counties should render null & void these unlawful edicts, whether they be from Congress or Obama.
And skillful lawyers for freedom should attack these with legal arguments. Can you believe it? Beck was on the radio this a.m. outlining how these edicts could work and it is totally against all common sense and our nation’s founding.
For instance if you had someone who was victimized by violence such as rape or kidnapping, murder etc and that person sought psychiatric counseling, they could be labeled as “mentally ill” and if they had a weapon it could be confiscated. Their doctor would be obligated to report about their mental state and about whether they owned guns. Or if you had a child needing psychiatric help you had better keep it to yourself and not seek such help for them, because the second it becomes known, if you have a gun in your home you would be forced to relinquish it. Or if a family member with alzheimers moves in to be under your care, well, out has to go your guns. All of this would fall under mental health-related restrictions.
Beck went on and on and that was just one type of situation he raised.
Again, state and local governments need to put the kabosh on this stuff and confront any feds who attempt to “assault” citizens in their homes by showing up and demanding their guns.
Obama has already made domestic gun manufacturers wealthy.
My guess is that these proposed LAWS will generate 10,000+ pages of poorly thought out regulations. Typical lib nonsense
No gun control is going to pass through Congress and Oblahblah does not have the authority to ban tactical rifles and high cap mags by EO. If he tries it he is going to be sorry.
The blowback will be intense. Maybe it will be a good thing if he tries to go too far.
Issuing 19 E. O. s is liks spraying the crowd with an AK-47.
