‘Shoot Him Again! Shoot Him!’: Husband Coaches Wife to Shoot Home Invader in Chilling 911 Audio

Police have released audio from a 911 call made during a home invasion in Georgia, in which a concerned husband tells his wife to shoot a lawless intruder. The mom was home alone with her twin 9-year-old children when the man broke into their home with a crowbar.

The mother, later identified as Melinda Herman, shot the man five times with a .38 caliber revolver after he cornered them in an attic crawlspace,

The perp had already attempted a break in at another residence in the neighborhood the same day and was chased off by the resident. This zombi perp was bound and determined to break in to someone's home and ran out of luck. I guess those EBT cards and unlimited unemployment payments just don't cover life's day to day expenses on the street.

Glad the lady had the wherewithall and training with her .38 and had her husband on the phone to coach her. Too bad the perp survived as now the taxpayers of Georgia will undoubtedly have to cover his medical costs and house and feed his sorry azz.

If she remained in the home , same effort could
have been used to kill the mother & children with crowbar.
Unfortunately he will live. A 9mm clip would have had more than enough rounds to end his
life.

I wouldn’t exactly call it a happy ending, but could have been worse.

So... the moral of this story for me is to keep my .9mm Beretta handy by the side of the bed and use the .38 revolver as a backup.

WHICH 9mm “clip” ?
Some little 9s have a slim single-stack of 6 or 7 rounds.And far better to have one of those than nothing.

Don’t you know ONLY the police need double-stack 19 round magazines ?

Sounds like the perp was on just enough drugs to shrug off the wounds yet just enough brains to seek medical help .He COULD have expended his enegy beating the woman and children to death before then collapsing.NOT a happy ending.

If she had shot the perp in just the correct spot in the face then a bullet would have traveled to the brain and ended it.But chances of missing the head are much greater than missing the body.And I posit that nice people are reluctant to shoot,stab, or bash someone in the face., due to cultural conditioning.

She actually did pretty well-both lungs,and the liver.Wrong ammo in the gun,otherwise he’d have been dead on the spot.What she needed was a .357 with the Federal 125 grain load.

The guy did make it to the hospital
This incident occurred because she was shooting .38 cal. ball rounds.
She should have been using .38 cal hydra-shock +p’s

After discharging the weapon in a small space , she couldn’t hear her husband on the phone : all the more reason for using a ‘silencer’ in a closed area .
Thank goodness her husband brought her to the range to train her on the firearm ~ let that be a lesson to us all .

My 870 (non-tactical) has : #6 bird (first round) , #00 (second round), and sabots (#3,4,5 rounds).
If I have to go to #3 -5 , I don’t care about clean up !!

Seems like I heard she had just begun learning how to shoot, so that lady did just FINE!

911 was still in the process of dispatching when she had to defend herself. No way she or her children would have been safe until the police actually got there and made it to her location.
