"Sounds like they are planning an all out assault on gun owners."

GOOD! Better to make their position up front & clear for once,
instead of their 'incremental' creeping- 'shoot for a yard, but settle for a foot'..(this time) legislation/executive order.
My bet...no confiscation. They know better. Just fines & penalties at first if you dont turn in your 'assault 10/22 rifle'.
Let the hell-raising quiet down,
then heavier fines/penalties/jail time...including property seizure (house, car).
THEN they come late at night for those who still dont give up their arms.

Open Society Foundations

The network of Open Society Foundations or OSF (named Open Society Institute or OSI until 2011), is a grantmaking operation started by George Soros, aimed to shape public policy to promote democratic governance, human rights, and economic, legal, and social reform. On a local level, OSF implements a range of initiatives to support the rule of law, education, public health, and independent media. At the same time, OSF works to build alliances across borders and continents on issues such as combating corruption and rights abuses.

One of the aims of the OSF is the development of civil society organizations (e.g., charities and community groups) to encourage participation in democracy and society.[1] The name is inspired by Karl Popper's 1945 book The Open Society and Its Enemies.[2]

McCormick Foundation is a Chicago-based nonprofit charitable trust established in 1955, upon the death of “Colonel” Robert R. McCormick, a member of the celebrated McCormick family. As of 2010 it had more than US$1 billion in assets.

History

In 1911, McCormick became the editor and publisher of the Chicago Tribune, a position he held until his death in 1955. McCormick’s will founded a charitable trust to promote his beliefs regarding the first amendment, citizenship, community service, education and journalism.

Maybe they will claim the lead in the bullets poses a health risk, much like lead in paint. I think they are going to grasp at so straws at throw them at us at the same time to try and make something stick. This multi-angle approach will also slow any legal process down in trying to overturn thei steps toward tyranny.

About SICP - The Community Solutions Agenda

In creating the Office of Social Innovation and Civic Participation (SICP), housed within the Domestic Policy Council, President Obama recognized that the best solutions to our challenges will be found in communities across the country. He tasked SICP with engaging individuals, non-profits, the private sector, and government to foster innovation and work together to make greater and more lasting progress on our Nation’s challenges. The Office is focused on doing business differently by promoting service as a solution and a way to develop community leadership; increasing investment in innovative community solutions that demonstrate results; and developing new models of partnership. These three mission areas together comprise SICP’s community solutions agenda.

General Principles

Our Office is founded on simple but enduring principles about how a society can effectively grapple with its greatest challenges. We believe in:

•Focusing on Results. Strong programs and organizations measure and evaluate what works and why, continuously improve when presented with new information, and invest in the most effective solutions.

•Bottom-up solutions. The best ideas do not always come from Washington. Every day, individuals and communities across the country are developing solutions to our toughest challenges and achieving great results. Government should support – not supplant – bottom-up solutions that are having an impact.

•Broadening Participation. The next generation of leaders and ideas must be drawn from communities across America. Service and social innovation can act as an onramp to a new generation of leadership and help reinvigorate a sense of responsibility to community for all Americans.

•Shared Responsibility. We know that government cannot and should not do everything on its own, and President Obama has described this as an all-hands-on-deck moment. We know that each sector plays a needed and distinct role that is often dependent on the roles of the other sectors.

Our Mission

To act on these principles, our Office will focus on three mission areas that comprise a bottom-up, innovative, and results-oriented “community solutions” agenda. To deliver on this agenda, we will marshal the power of service, social innovation, and partnerships to solve our most pressing challenges. Our Office will:

•Promote Service as a Solution and a Way to Develop Community Leaders. We know that service is not separate from our national priorities – it is key to addressing these priorities. We want to broaden opportunities for all Americans to serve and have an impact in their communities, and build a new generation of community leaders who are tackling our toughest challenges.

•Increase Investment for Innovative Solutions that Demonstrate Results. We will work with Federal agencies to create tools, such as innovation funds, prizes and other social capital market structures to drive resources toward community solutions that are demonstrating success. We will also work across government and with non-government partners to promote better mechanisms to measure and evaluate programs and improve outcomes, to create knowledge about what works, and to disseminate why it works. And we will work to create a more effective government by breaking down barriers to innovation.

•Develop New, Innovative Models of Partnership. We will find new ways for the government to partner with private organizations in solving shared problems, and develop new, innovative models of partnership. We are looking to advance partnership models that produce outcomes with greater impact than what could be achieved independently.

It means nothing but someone else sticking their nose where it doesn’t belong. I just want them to leave me the hell alone!

I already pay enough taxes so I don’t think that is too much to ask.

I recall a time before Satan took over the US Government when the function of government was to see that all sides were TREATED FAIRLY and the US Government was an HONEST BROKER not a political advocate for one side to whip up hatred against the US Constitution and Bill of Rights that Satan swore to uphold and defend.

willing to get involved in President Obama’s future gun violence prevention efforts

BULLSTALIN. Barack Obama is NOT concerned with preventing FUTURE gun violence. He has done NOTHING to root out the Islamic jihadists working WITHIN the US military who are killed OUR own guys.

Recall the figure who said it would be a "bigger tragedy" to lose our "diversity" than to lose over a dozen MEN, WOMEN, and CHILDREN in an attack that would be classified as a WAR CRIME if it had occurred on foreign soil against THE ENEMY.

They will not go for confiscation.

I see Obama issuing an EO that prohibits a gun show at any facility that accepts federal funds....convention centers, arenas, etc.

I see Obama ordering Sebelius to raise insurance premiums on firearm owners.

They can call for a tax on ammunition, but that will have to go through congress and will fail.

I see Obama banning importation of any semi-automatic firearm, magazines and all ammunition. This will cause an even greater crisis in prices and will have the same effect as a tax.
