Ted Cruz Takes Stand Against Gun Control and Hagel in "No Compromise" Strategy
Fox Latino ^ | January 07, 2013

Watch full video interview above.

Freshman Republican Senator Ted Cruz is the newest Texan in the Senate and so far he has not been shy to criticize Washington.

In a 12-minute interview on Fox News Sunday, Cruz said he does not believe in compromise in D.C. He also said he will not support the confirmation of former Nebraska Senator Chuck Hagel as Defense Secretary, and is adamantly against current gun control proposals and the fiscal cliff deal, which he called a "lousy deal."

During a time in which the Republican Party seems to be in search of a new identity, especially after losing the Latino vote by a 3 to 1 margin, Cruz, a Cuban American, is defiantly sticking to his conservative principles.

"I don't think what Washington needs is more compromise," Cruz said to Fox News' John Roberts. "I think what Washington needs is more common sense and more principle."

Cruz said he believes politicians have jumped to exploit the tragedy in Newtown, Conn. to push their own agendas and said he believes the current gun control proposals –including Democratic Senator Dianne Feinstein's bill to create a national gun registry– are unconstitutional.

I voted for him largely because I couldn’t stomach the thought of David Dewhurst. So far, I’m miles ahead on this particular bet.

Go Cruz!

If Cruz keeps this up, we may have to draft him to run against Obama in 2016....

I want him to show up at the confirmation hearings for Kerry. He is the only person I can imagine in the Senate that would ask the questions I want asked.

What contacts did Kerry have with the North Vietnamese government?

What did they discuss?

Did the VVAW coordinate efforts with the North Vietnamese war effort.

What were the funding sources for the VVAW?

He’s a keeper. Also, DeMint is busy at Heritage Foundation. WE really do need good and politically experienced conservatives working in a think tank environment.

We need to pay attn to what’s going on over there and get our debate skills going.

We have to start speaking up, all of us.

Case in point:

Last Sun McLaughlin Group. Conservative rep says he has many studies which show tht increased gun laws increase crime. True and common sensical.

E. Clift whines “Oh I am sure I could come up with studies which show the opposite, the point is, blah blah blah”.

He is literally dumbfounded and crosseyed.

Not the way to win the argument.

He lost an easy argument, let her off the hoook that any teen debate club swould have dqd her for and we are arguing the SECOND ammendment - not some teen or twentieth, the SECOND.

She is wrong, a liar and she could in no way show that her statement was true because sense dictates that it can not possibly be.

We need to get with it. That’s why pay attn to De Mint and lets give that breath of fresh air T Cruz and Mark levin for that matter, kudos and positive feedback and start arguing start bcoming comfortable with how to deal with the immature non sensical angry outburts that WILL come our way from our bratty siblings who’ve taken over the family it’s reputation, finances and compass and who are condoned by negligent parenting.

They are wrong.

Lunchtime rant prolly full of typos.

Amen

I am really, really liking this Ted Cruz guy.

At this point, in my mind, I see no reason why he shouldn’t run in 2016. He might make a great candidate — and a better president.

I like Ted Cruz. I thought I liked Rubio, but he’s seems mealy-mouthed. Can’t have anymore of those.

Exactly. No more candidates that are afraid of the corrupt MSM or are timid. We need a bold leader!

I agree but you've gotta remember what happened to one of our strongest freshmen, Allen West. He was exactly the type of leader we needed and still need, but he also became such a huge target by the liberals that he was unable to appeal to the folks who vote centrist or only lean right. That's what ruled in his district. Also his fiery rhetoric became a source of embarrassment to his district due in no small part to the sleaze mongers in the MSM. Remember that we have to act as insurgents in this fight for freedom because we are severely outnumbered and outgunned in the MSM and often have to make our moves below the radar to be effective. LTC West was about as subtle as an aircraft carrier and there are reasons those are called bomb magnets.

Just a matter of time, midear. I was awestruck by Rubio's acceptance speech the night he was elected. I literally cried. He's become just another cog in the RINO wheel. I fear Cruz will do the same.

Washington CHANGES people. Often for the worse. Give Cruz some time. He'll get beat down by the establishment in due course.
