‘National database’ on gun sales part of Obama anti-gun game plan
Seattle Gun Rights Examiner ^ | 5 January, 2013 | Dave Workman

Posted on 01/06/2013 11:51:07 AM PST by marktwain

The Washington Post is reporting that President Barack Obama is preparing to pull out all the stops in pushing his anti-gun agenda in what the newspaper calls “a far broader and more comprehensive approach” than the Clinton-era ban on semi-autos.

That ban expired in 2004 after a ten-year lifespan. Passage of the measure cost Democrats control of Congress in November 1994.

The moves will be sold as an effort to curb “gun violence,” but it appears there is much more in the president’s plan, including what the Post calls “measures backed by key law enforcement leaders that would require universal background checks for firearm buyers (and) track the movement and sale of weapons through a national database…”

“National database” just might sound like “national gun registration” to some firearms activists. The concept is almost certain to be toxic to the firearms community. Fear of impending gun restrictions has fueled a buying rush across the nation, and is reportedly swelling the ranks of gun rights organizations with thousands of new memberships.

>>Throw a gun destruction party, invite all your neighbors, get as many sworn witnesses as possible. But beforehand take edited shots of actual guns being torched or shredded, leave nothing that can be reconstructed, use replicas.<<

Oh for crying out loud! A fake gun destruction party?

You are kidding around...right? I’m not trying to be disrespectful, but isn’t it just a bit naive to think anyone would fall for that sort of nonsense?

Just, out of curiosity, if registered gun owners reported their guns ‘stolen’ would they remain in the system as a gun owner?

Of course they would remain in the system. What do you think the reason is for mandatory reporting of stolen guns!

The idea is that if you report a gun stolen, and they search your house and come up with it, you can be prosecuted for obstruction of justice.

The idea is to have all legitimate weapons under the control of the State. They do not care that much about guns that are illegal. In a couple of generations, those will be no problem, because the gun culture will have been destroyed, and guns are of little use if you do not have the will to use them, or the conviction that the right to keep and carry them is your God given right, protected by the Constitution.

If your state has gun shows and doesn`t require checks for private sales, just rent a table at the next one. Sell any junk you may have or just use it as a garage sale but keep the receipt as it is “proof” of where you “sold” your known purchases and when.

If I needed additional guns under those circumstances, I would just buy the parts and assemble (modify) them myself.

The moment any anti-gunner suggest that there be some reasonable compromise, offer them this:

How about this instead:

Tell them that a reasonable compromise would be repeal of the Gun Free School Zone act, as it has contributed to the death of dozens of innocent children;

and ask that they include a provision limiting the time that media outlets can spend on mass shootings, and requireing them to refrain from giving details of the exact means used.

That would be much more effective in reducing school shootings than their proposals to register all guns and gun owners.

It's already been done (illegally) under the Clinton Administration with Firearms Inquiry Statistical Tracking.

Gun Registration is Gun Confiscation

CASE IN POINT: CA state AG Dan Lundgren (R) pushed and got a law passed to enact state wide registration for the SKS rifle. Lots of citizen back lash but ole Dan publicly presented his assurance that the registration is only about knowing where those weapons are located with in the state purely for safety reasons, nothing more. I think it took about two years before ole Dan decided the registration of the SKS was sufficient to then order that all SKS rifles be turned in to local law enforcement offices or face prosecution that would lead to incarceration and steep fines.

He won’t care about conflicting laws. He’ll order and enforce whatever he wants, and let the courts chew up years figuring out how to say no (including to offers which can not be refused).

Wouldn’t the house have to pass this, too?

Could they not just vote it down?

Sure, they could; they could also so-called "compromise" and give President You Didn't Build That only half of all he wants.

No no, you don’t need your own database. You need to find all the ones that exist and destroy them.
