Because it is a House Dems group with all Dem members. It has nothing to do with the official committee organization.

Gun Violence Prevention Task Force

It's not a House committee. It's an 'organization'.

The media is being vague, so that people think it's official.

Liars gotta lie.

He’s going to do this by executive order.....No way Dems in the House will give it to him.

There is no wasted action when defending our Constitution. Any pebble tossed onto their road to enslavement could cause their plans to topple like a fat SoS.

Works for me. If Obama wants a war it might as well be now before he has 4 more years to screw America.

The White House and gun control supporters are gearing up for a whirlwind month, with plans to pass reform legislation before outrage over the Sandy Hook massacre has a chance to fade.

Fading...not going to happen you leftists at TPM.

The campaign against the Republican House for 2014 has begun and they don’t have a wartime Speaker.

I don’t think O thinks much is going to pass and it sure is not going to pass quickly.

Bottom line: He wants to outlaw the most popular guns being sold in America today. It ain’t going to happen.

1. The NRA and every other group are going to be going strong on this.
2. We are going nicely register our discontent with our representatives and senators during this period. Be polite but firm when you talk with them.
3. There doesn’t seem to be any support for these initiatives in the general populace. None.

Epic fail is on the way.

Going to be anything but a rapid victory. Over 3 weeks now since Newtown and I believe resistance to any new legislation is galvanizing.

The media is doing all they can to create an air of inevitability. Feinstein’s bill is DOA but we can’t even entertain the idea of compromise.

I think some sort of compromise which includes universal registration is the course they most want to pursue. They want good records which will ultimately lead to firearms confiscation. The ultimate goal of every control freak.

When the gun grabbers call for bans and limitations, go the other way. Offer tax breaks for gun manufacturers and dealers. Create MORE "loopholes".

If those DemoQuacks are so interested in protecting U.S. citizens then how about a quick victory over the Mexican drug cartels against whom the federal government to date has failed to protect us.

The federal government with all its weapons, laws and resources can’t stop the deadly Mexican drug cartels at the border, and cannot stop them from operating in hundreds of communities throughout the United States. And now the government want to disarm citizens to stop us from protecting ourselves against the narco terrorists and other criminal pyschopaths that run the streets? Citizens have the right to protect ourselves particularly when the government is unable or unwilling to protect us.

laying the groundwork for their big push...

Poor editing. They misspelled putsch.

This "rapid" talk is more like "rabid" or "blitzkrieg-like".

I would call that action dancing on the graves of little children. Matter of fact, these communists were acting before the massacred children's bodies were cold.

Yep, time is a coming. Prepare accordingly.

You know, the one thing we were missing, was the left-liberal viewpoint on guns and gun-bans.

Thank GOD there was someone ready to cover this utterly uncovered viewpoint! Bravo, TPM!

This is pure Alinsky...trying to put a face on gun owners by polarizing the NRA.

The NRA doesn’t represent all gun owners, and all gun owners don’t necessarily represent the the NRA.

So “sheriff” biden is going to ride in and bombard the NRA with threats of taxes, regulations, etc., and maybe they’ll cave, maybe they want...but it won’t disarm America, not by a long shot.

obama’s quest to disarm America will not be as easy as was that of Hitler...America is much larger than Germany and our freedom was founded and has been maintained by the right to bear arms.

Remember when the government claimed that “rounding up” 13 million illegal aliens was an “impossible task”?

But, there is a lingering worry...for the past 25 years we have so willingly given up so many freedoms and rights, I fear that when obama says “boo”, we’ll all just surrender and kneel. He believes in kneeling you know.

Gun Violence Prevention Task Force

Rep. Mike Thompson (D-CA), chair of the newly created Gun Violence Prevention Task Force, announced the appointment of 12 vice chairs, including Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY)

Other vice chairs include: Rep. Ron Barber of Arizona, who worked for former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and was wounded when she was shot in January 2011; Rep. Elizabeth Esty of Connecticut, who represents the Newtown area, and Rep. Ed Perlmutter of Colorado, whose district includes Aurora, where a gunman opened fire in a movie theater last summer, killing 12 people and wounding dozens more.

Complete and total set up...

The media will have their talking points straight from the DNC and Alexrod

Wait, I thought Harry Reid got the love and endorsement of the NRA, so I’m sure Reid will side with the NRA and against the gun grabbers, right?

Obama and the corrupt MSM are trying to make everyone believe that they have dictatorial power and anything they want to do is going to be done. That just isn’t so. The neither have the power, nor the votes to do whatever they want.

There will be no gun control other than what is practiced at the range.
