New Jersey Democrats have long argued that they would approve only "diverse" nominees to the state Supreme Court. But now, as liberal opposition builds against Gov. Christie's most recent picks, the definition of diverse appears to be changing.
One of the two nominees, Monmouth County Superior Court Judge David Bauman, was born in Japan to a Japanese mother and would be the first Asian American on the high court.
Yet the Legislature's black caucus, the state Latino Action Network, and a broad coalition of more than 50 groups, including teachers' unions and Planned Parenthood, are opposing Bauman and the other nominee, Robert Hanna, who is white, primarily because they would not make the court more diverse - and specifically, because they're not African American or Latino.

Many blacks are hypocrites. Remember Martin Luther King’s saying that a man should be judged by his character and not the color of his skin? These whiners are all about judging against white-skinned folk (even if half-asian).

Many blacks can’t even spell his name; they are not his heirs. In fact, he would have nothing to do with him; he appealed to the black WORKING class.
The class-warfare industry hates them because they had what the WASPs who built this country had: a strong work ethic and families.
Most of our welfare/dependency culture is created by the war on families in this country.
That would put a whole new slant on the expression "yellowing documents".
In a milti-racial society whites also count as part of its diversity. But then, I’m a stickler for definitions.
I asked them why would "Asians" vote for the Dims -- Dim policies actually affect "Asians" -- these minorities are smarter, yet don't get enough places in college due to affirmative action. They are hard-working and save/invest their money, so why would they want it going as welfare? and they have strongly conservative social values
The answer from all three was the same -- they felt that it was primarily due to peer pressure and wanting to fit in with their white liberal friends.
Needless to say all 3 of these folks are proud to be independent thinkers and to speak their minds.
It's only in the post WWII period that East Asians have achieved any sort of social acceptance in the US.
San Fran’s Chinatown is much older than WWII, and Chinese women were brought here as well as men during the Old West. Maybe not commonplace on the frontier, but they’re not new to California’s coastal cities.
But almost all the Chinese in the West were men, without families, for a very long time after the American takeover.
If you read through the various histories of Fort Ross carefully you discover that the Russians actually brought a large number of Aleuts ~ who mostly later on went to Russia when the colony was disbanded (rather than back to the Aleutians), but many Aleut women stayed there finding opportunities with Spaniards (and American fur traders in the region) far more promising.
I don't know how you count Aleuts ~ as North American aborigines, or as East Asians, but the second generation of Aleuts in California were certainly among the first mixed-race folks since the 9000BC period!
East Asian immigration patterns were wholly unlike Western European immigration patterns of the mid to late 1800s ~ on the other hand they were very much like Western European immigration patterns of the 1500s (with few women) and later on in the mid 1700s (with few women)
As you undoubtedly know there were native women here fully equipped to bear children and create family life. One famous fellow in New York was the first European settler in what became Rochester NY. He had several wives. One was an Indian. Another was black. One was a blond white woman, and another was a fiery red headed white woman.
The red head lived alone with her 5 chillun'. The others lived together with their pack in a larger house.
Their family name is ALLEN ~ and he was from New Jersey. Gather he grew up packing into the back country to collect furs to bring back to the coast.
That was for a very long time a typical American family. No idea why we gave it up
I believe the “Kennewick Man” (not sure of the spelling) in Washington State was an Aleutian; the dig was going to be used as fodder for more freebies for American Indians, but when it turned out the oldest skeleton was in fact not a native at all the government closed up the site.
more likely he was from japan ~ brought over in a large debris field by a tsunami.
No, he was Caucasian. That was why they had to close up the site (can’t have Injuns claiming land where the oldest remnant is a honky).
No, we have a Caucasion who looked like him, right down to everything but THE TEETH. The dude had teeth typical of the Ainu/Emeshi/Jomon people ~ That’s a branch of the main group from which the Chinese are descended ~ ergo, just another kinda’ Chinese.
OR:
Which begs the question of where the Aleuts or their ancestors came from.
The Alaskan coast and associated island groups may have been far more settled than tiger ridden China and Indo China 10,000 or so years ago ~ and the use of kelp is absolutely necessary to survival at paleolithic or neolithic levels in that part of the world yet today.
Canadian for kelp is doultz ~ roasted, toasted and flavored!
