Well see how long this pledge lasts. As part of his New Years resolutions, conservative talk host Glenn Beck returned from the holidays with a new policy: no one can mention President Obama anymore on his show.
Anybody who brings him up, besides me, is fired, Beck said of the new policy. Astonished by the severity, co-host Stu Burguiere asked if staffers could get by with just mentioning that the president said, to which Beck said it would be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
Instead choosing to refer to the president as that man or that guy, Beck explained the very loose definition of what counts as mentioning the president in his mind. After much back and forth with his colleagues, Beck said:
You can allude to him. You can play Joe Biden. But I dont want to hear the mans voice. I dont want to hear him. I dont want to know about him. You want that information? Go any place else. Theres thousands of outlets, you can have all the information you want. I am not talking about that man.
Burguiere joked that Obama is now like the villainous Harry Potter character Voldemort in that the novels protagonists referred to the evil wizard as he who shall not be named.
Why summons that? Beck said. Youre just asking for trouble. Why bring that on? Dont speak his name.

“I turn off the TV or switch channels whenever his face is shown”
-
I always feel juvenile when I do that.
No more-—I see that I have company.
Whew !!!
.
You have a lot of company..My whole family!
The other local station is a Rush broadcaster and, other than Limbaugh and then Jason Lewis late at night, they have mostly gone to the dark side too. Oh well...it was good while it lasted.
Don't know who your talking about Glen....rofl.
No one in my family will say his name, will not look at or listen to what's his name, but this started 4 years ago.
Canceled Cable TV today, canceled land line, down to basics.
Excellent!
I don’t even acknowledge the jug-eared jackass as my president.
O is not allowed in my home, and only rarely do I force myself to name him. I have never felt this way about any president, and I have heartily disliked several.
You slacker! It's been that way for at least for a year in my house. Granted, it's just myself and my wife, but she usually beats me to the remote/mute/change channel buttons.
I cannot stand seeing his face let alone his vocal lying spew.
FMCDH(BITS)
LOLOLOL.
We’ve always muted him, but it’s only been months since we’ve started changing the channel to rid his ugly face from the screen!
I wish the planet could be an Obama free zone. I don’t want to look at him. I don’t want to hear him. I don’t want to read about him. I want that nightmare to be erased from my memory.
I refer to him as the “flaming fairy princess,” “panty-waist,” or “candy-a**.”
Even presidents I don’t like, in the past I would at least listen to what they had to say if only to better know what they are up to.
In his case, I already know what he is up to; nothing he says sheds any new light, it only obfuscates.
Nicholas Taleb (the “Black Swan” writer) makes the remark with some frequency that he avoids the press because he knows more about what is going on the less he listens to them. I’ve come to the same conclusion about them and about O. The more you listen to either, the less you know.
