A spokesman for House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) pushed back Tuesday afternoon against the suggestion that by coming out against the “fiscal cliff” deal passed by the Senate, the congressman was undercutting House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio).

It isn’t nitpicking, though. A majirity was on Obama’s side in tge presidential race, but he was not the only one on the ballot. Democrats didn’t win the house. Elections have consequences, as they are fond of telling us, and the consequence of Republicans retaining the lower legislative body is Democrats don’t get to do whatever they want like ‘08-’10.
