Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham said on Sunday that chances for a small “fiscal cliff” deal in the next 48 hours were “exceedingly good” and that President Barack Obama had won.

“I think people don’t want to go over the cliff if we can avoid it,” Graham said on Fox News Sunday. …

“This deal won’t affect the debt situation, it will be a political victory for the president and I hope we’ll have the courage of our convictions when it comes time to raise the debt ceiling to fight for what we believe as Republicans, but hats off to the president; he won,” Graham said. “He stood his ground. He’s going to get tax-rate increases.” …

Rick Santorum was right recently when he said its time to turn to the states because congress is mostly a lost cause. Meanwhile the states themselves are standing tall and defying Obama at every turn.

Hat’s off? Good grief, Lindsey. This is no time for compliments. It’s time to plot revenge. Get a grip.

Hmmm... I can’t seem to find any of the several Freepers who ran around defending Bohener and the GOP. They got real upset that we told them he would cave and were ASSURED that he would not.

Where are they?

I wonder What’s Up with that....

Not to worry. They will be back as if nothing ever happened the next time the GOP is about to give away whats left of America, telling us ‘we’ are the problem, not Johnny boy and his merry band of Bennedicts.

Yeah, ain’t it funny that they do this in the face of that “vote for revenge” rhetoric. The Grand Old Surrender Monkey Party.

I think it is time for those states who have HAD IT with these people to go read some of the Articles of Incorporation adopted by states ratifying the Constitution. New York - surprisingly, and Virginia come to mind.

They really just don't get it, do they.

Actually no, in this case. The GOP doesn’t have the power to extend the Bush tax cuts.

Well, some of them did fight, but what can you do when faced with someone who will not negotiate at all and has all the power (particularly since if he doesn’t get his way with at the least the fiction of procedural legitimacy, he goes ahead by executive fiat anyway: look at the government employees’ pay increase). And Harry Reid is equally inflexible, so the GOPers in the Senate clearly couldn’t do anything - except appear in the press everyday calling attention to the situation, which is something they did not do.

It may be that losing was the only possibility, but they shouldn’t go quietly, and the thing that makes me madder than anything else is that they are not even calling attention to Obama’s outrageous and very often unconstitutional behavior in all this. I haven’t heard a peep out of them about the government employee pay-raises, for example. Actually, it’s even worse; it was an exemption from a pay freeze, so even though there’s no inflation, they’re getting what is essentially a COLA increase while Social Security recipients aren’t getting any. And it was Obama’s personal decision. Why not kick and scream about that; I don’t think they’d find many Americans who would support Obama on it.

Why doesn’t the GOP make political hay out of these things? Two sides can play the publicity game, but the GOP is so afraid of what Obama and the press might say about them (how can they get much worse?) that they just sit there and meekly take it without even giving us a rallying cry.

“Why was this not the center piece of the GOP campaign against the POS and his minions in the first place? It is like they wanted to lose and perhaps they did.”

The GOP Establishment would rather have President Obama and the Democrats than have GENUINE conservatives in power.

This is why they foisted Romney upon us, sandbagged true conservatives (Sarah, Sharon Angle, Christine O’Donnell, Todd Akin), and supported RINOs (Chris Christie, Scott Brown).

It is time to SMASH the GOP and replace it with a genuine conservative organization.

The GOP has turned fully liberal, that is why. I think enough conservatives see that. They have been part liberal for many decades, with a somewhat forestalling during Reagan’s tenure, but now the masks are off. They were content to act as Emmanuel Goldstein to the Democrats’ Big Brother for as long as the ploy worked; now they seem to feel that there is no longer the need.

Goober Graham is a poster child for the repeal of the 17th amendment.
