(CNSNews.com) Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) said only the federal government should have high-capacity gun magazines and that the state ought to have a monopoly on legitimate violence.
At a Capitol Hill press conference on Wednesday, Nadler gathered with other House Democrats to push for stricter gun control in the wake of last weeks massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., which left 26 dead, including 20 children.
The lawmaker told CNSNews.com that he not only supports prohibiting the future sale of 10-round gun magazines, but he would like to confiscate high-capacity clips already legally possessed by American citizens.
After the event, CNSNews.com asked Nadler if the shooting massacre at the Ft. Hood military base in 2009 would have been prevented by the legislation he supports. On Nov. 5, 2009 Maj. Nidal Hasan, an Army psychiatrist, used an FN Five-Seven semi-automatic handgun, which can hold 11 to 31 rounds, to unload on the military base after reportedly shouting "Allahu Akbar," or God is Great in Arabic.
CNSNews.com asked: Would banning high-capacity clips at Ft. Hood have prevented Maj. Nidal Hasan from killing 13 people and wounding 29 others?
I dont know. It might have, Nadler said. Certainly, it was on a military base and he may or may not have had authority to use military weapons. I dont know whether he did or not.
But the point of all this is not that we can prevent every single murder, [or] we can prevent every single even mass murder, but we can reduce it greatly, he said. You know, no one would say we shouldnt use penicillin because some people still die of infections, but a lot fewer do because we have penicillin and other wonder drugs.
Nadler continued: Now, the fact of the matter is that Germany has 150 or so people killed a year with guns; Canada, 170; the United States 9,000 to 10,000 a year. We have a murder rate with guns that are 15 to 20 times higher than any other industrialized country. Theres only one explanation and thats the availability, the easy availability of assault weapons and of high-capacity clips.
Now, last Friday we lost 20 children and six adults murdered in a Connecticut school, he said. Last Friday a madman attacked a school in China, an elementary school in China. Twenty-two kids were injured, but none killed because he had a knife, not an assault rifle. Thats the difference.
CNSNews.com then asked, But if a bill was brought up and passed to ban high-capacity clips would the military still be allowed to use them?
Of course, the military would be allowed to use them, Nadler said.
So only the government would be allowed to have high-capacity clips? CNSNews.com asked.
Yes.
Well, I think the legislation doesnt ban existing ones but -- although I would like to do that, too, he said. But I think the legislation were talking about would prohibit the sale and probably manufacturer sale of high-capacity clips in the future, not those that are in private possession today.
But let me say, yes, Nadler added. One of the definitions of a nation state is that the state has a monopoly on legitimate violence. And the state ought to have a monopoly on legitimate violence.
If the premise of your question is that people are going to resist a tyrannical government by shooting machine guns at American troops, thats insane, he said.
Since Sandy Hook, President Barack Obama and many Democrats are urging action to address more gun control. Obama has said he will use whatever power his office holds to prevent mass shootings in the future. At the prayer vigil for the Sandy Hook shooting on Sunday, Obama mentioned the shootings in Aurora, Co., Oak Creek, Wis., and Tuscon, Ariz., but he did not mention Ft. Hood.
At Wednesdays press conference, Nadler, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), and other Democrats advocated for a bill introduced by Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-N.Y.) and Diana DeGette (D-Colo.) that would ban magazines for more than 10 rounds of ammunition. The bill would also prohibit the transfer, possession or importation of those magazines that are manufactured after the date of the law being signed.
Following last weeks shooting, Nadler called the National Rifle Association (NRA) enablers of mass murder.
We have a lobby, the leadership of the NRA, who function as enablers of mass murder, Nadler told CNN Host Piers Morgan. And that's what they are. They're enablers of mass murder because they terrify the class of political people. And even though polling shows that most NRA members would support reasonable gun controls, every time someone proposes it, they come in.
They lie. They say they will take your guns away, he said. And they stop any kind of legislation to prevent that.
Nadler is a Sonderkommando and thus, the lowest form of life.
It’s what he wants but it is where he will be on the receiving end of.
Did this turd have his stomach removed or something? Last picture I saw of him his neck was wider than my waist, and his girth would not have fit in my two-and-a-half car garage.
New York City is the source of most of the evil in this nation.
This worthless Nazi piece-of-crap Nadler and Adam Lanza should both have been sharing a padded room at a mental institution. They’re both bat $hit crazy.
I agree. It looks like Gerald lost about half a ton. I imagine that most of that excess weight was probably due to the fact that he hadn’t had a bowel movement in years.
In other words, he was full of defecation as are most of those cowardly traitors who fill up the nation’s Congress.
PS: I once read a letter from the editor in a local newspaper in which some idiot claimed there would have been no Holocaust if Germany had had gun control! True story!!!
“Government is not reason, it is not eloquence, it is force; like fire, a troublesome servant and a fearful master. Never for a moment should it be left to irresponsible action. “ ~ Attributed to George Washington
The Prussian takeover followed on the heals of the Prussian invention of the modern postal union in the 1800s ~ nothing else than that.
Public schools were part of the package in a good number of very ancient city states ~ in Europe, Asia AND Africa.
That would be true were it not the case that victims did the work. You have to insert VOLUNTARY before the expression to get the gist ~ which is someone who came in from outside to voluntarily move dead Jewish bodies from the gas chambers to the ovens, or the trenches ~ BECAUSE HE OR SHE LIKED IT!
“Nadler looks so nice now that hes lost 450 lbs.”
Which reminds me...did any of the lefty journos ever question Nadler on his ability to do his job because of his obesity? The way they did/do with Christie?

Yup.. It worked so well at Waco, Ruby Ridge..
Nadler is a living example of the need for “spoon control”.
Bless his little heart. Come and get them, sweet pants; we've prepared a lead enriched diet for you and your thugs.
Gerald does have someone who ties his shoes for him. He hasn’t seen his feet for over thirty years.
He also straps roller skates to his hands in order to keep his knuckles from dragging on the floor as he lumbers down the halls of government.
Gerald is typical of the leftist, America-hating gaggle that is ruling this nation to death.
Everyone to Nadler’s house for nachos and cheese!
Yep George &. Thom they don’t come any smarter n those 2...

The pustulent Jerry Nadler, also known as the alimentary canal of the Congress, wasted no time announcing the intention of the Democrat party to make the Newton, Connecticut mass murders a political football.
Article from Gay USA: IN THE NEWS: We'll recap the November elections around the country, give you our take on Rudy Giuliani's welcoming of an endorsement from the "Rev." Pat Robertson, and more. We kick off this week's "Gay USA" with our guest transgender activist Melissa Sklarz to do a post mortem on the debate in the US House over the Employment Non-Discrimination Act which was passed covering sexual orientation but not gender identity and expression. We will show you clips from the debate featuring Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA) defending the need to drop gender identity, Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY) telling the Congress why it is wrong to separate sexual orientation from sexual orientation (and why he was one of seven pro-gay, pro-trans members to vote against Frank's bill), and anti-gay Rep. Mark Souder (R-IN) condemning the charade tactics of the Democrats on the transgender amendment (which was withdrawn by Rep. Tammy Baldwin (D-WI).
