I don't disagree. What cable needs is really good software, which none of them have.
I use the Big Screen for web browsing because of failing eyesight, all the other stuff is not necessary to make use of the TV, It is just a big computer monitor that requires one cable.
A giant iPad interface would suffice, stuff built into TVs is a joke. I have been using computers for nearly 40 years and I can no longer keep up. These things should be getting easier to use, not harder. Apple had the opportunity to make hookups simple with firewire but demanded too hig a premium. They have another opportunity with Thunderbolt but I predict they will muff it again.
It’s funny to me that all the smart TVs and such are so app based instead of browser based. I don’t know maybe they’re making money on the deals or something, but I think the first guys to ship a smart TV with a good browser with full flash, silver light and HTML5 support will win the war. “Anything you can browse to you can watch, no extra cables, no extra configuration” is a winning ad in my book.
