There are something like 300 million guns in the country, right? So ... if they start a new tax, at about $500 a head, they can then afford to buy up all the guns at $500 a piece. Sure, it will look a lot like outright confiscation since you have to pay the $500 so that they can afford to pay you the $500 which you then receive in return for your gun, but that’s just a detail, right?
