Police Wonder If They’ll Need To Confiscate Assault Weapons In Event Of Ban

Amid talk of reinstating the assault weapons ban that expired eight years ago, police departments nationwide are thinking of ways to confiscate such weapons.

As WCBS 880’s Marla Diamond reported, among the departments considering taking action is the NYPD. Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said if Congress were to reinstate the ban, police are wondering whether it will be their responsibility to confiscate them.

There are many. First thing is that the second they start going ‘house-to-house’, the battle isn’t going to be house-to-house for long, as they will be engaged in the open field.

Most civilian forces at least are trained for dynamic entry, not so much for a Mogadishu scenario. With nothing to lose, things will escalate quickly, and as the confiscators are outnumbered 1000 to 1, I can’t imagine things will end well.

You haven't hung out on a military base or in a barracks lately, have you? "By far" is pure hyperbole. Like the US, it's about 50-50 when you get to the grunts. When Obama's war begins, military bases will be very interesting places to watch... from a very long distance.
